U.P trip 5-6/7
What a weekend!
This was my first dumping trip with a group of RB'rs and my first time dumping (and actually finding something) outside of Michigan. I arrived in Wisconsin early so I killed an hour scatter dumping some nearby areas and found a small handful of cans. My first can dumped in WI is a green Drewrys Ale.
Met up with the group and took off. The first day in Wisconsin was pretty slow. A few dumps but some had no beer cans. We did manage to find a decent pile of cans at a camping area by a river that I had picked out. Oconto, hamms zips and flats, Miller grafs sodas. During the day my eye picked out a few bottles from the road, including this absolutely stunning 1890's Hutchinson bottle and 3 1920's sodas next to some quart-gallon beer bottles.
The last good spot of the day was a another dump on a hill on the way to another camping area. This place was the best spot of the day. Kingsbury cones, blatz and schlitz flats and tons of 60's stuff.
I kept a few cans and a 1928 Wisconsin plate from here.
Second day we focused on Michigan. Every spot we hit had cans and dumps. Both trucks split up again. Rusty, Aho, Art, and Rockbob in one with , 2 gallon Tom, Me, Bjorn and Patrick Beastofburden in the Other. My 2 spots I had picked for pit/scatter dumping were busts and we both split up. Shortly after this we found a massive multi residential dump that was practically 30ft long and 4 feet deep. 1957 all up to 1970 or so.
Tons of Bosch! There were some oddities dumped here, a Bubs and Van Merritt I believe and I personally dumped a few gettelmen 1000$ cans and a single meister brau bock. I also found a silver cream flat top here, which made me do a happy dance. Rest of the day was just the usual suspects. I ended up finding a decent goebel bantam at one of the last spots.
We all met up at Aho's afterwards and swapped stories with cold ones. Jay Sansom and his brother arrived shortly thereafter and boy was I happy to meet them.
I had to leave early the next morning (8 hour drive home) and couldn't go dumping with Jay on Sunday which was a bummer. I had less than 2 hours to check a few spots on my way back home. Pretty much all duds except for 1 spot I didn't plan on stopping at had prewar blatz cones! A most wanted can for me. Also found an abandoned section of highway with a bridge. This would've been a killer spot for cans but the wet rocky ground proved that wrong.
Great weekend was had by all. I know I got several cans that are going on my shelf.

Great cans and great CARS!! Can't believe those are still there! Is that Blatz you're drinking? I have been trying to drink a Blatz for over a decade and got the impression it wasn't available any more.

Re: U.P trip 5-6/7
I agree, great finds and GREAT CARS.... still just sitting in the bush waiting to be extracted back into life..... I'm being told that the 4 DR boat is a 1962 Pontiac Bonneville, the 5 window coupe is a rare Studebaker and the panel truck is a 38-40 Chevrolet (extremely desirable with the hot rodders)

Nice to meet you Ted, had a great time cleaning cans right now. Cars 34 Hudson? 1964 Catalina? Just my two cents, definitely hot Rod material

Ted,
You have been killing it with the cans this spring. enjoy it all; file it in the memory bank. Make some notes now while you are fresh, then write a story or two during the winter.

Re: U.P trip 5-6/7
I really had a blast riding around dumping with TGT, Beast and Bantam until dark two straight days. Jon’s house was rockin’ when we showed up late Sat. night on the way back to Faye Lake. It was cool to meet Jay and family, they were all excited to go dumping Sun. but I had to get back home. I still need to clean my cans. Sure found a bunch of cans this time! Most pics are from Thurs. on the way to Faye Lake. BonTons were Sat.
Big thanks to TGT for donating some killer cans he dumped. I was digging BonTon RootBeers and he scored a solid Orange- way up there, past Aura. A long ways from Waukesha. He found the Atlas lantern on the way down to meet me on Thurs. The Lockheed/Dubois was from a previous dig- Ziphippie

Yooper Aho's Spring 2022
This was a fun trip, great post and great pics. Really like the old car shots, fantastic!
As usual I'm about two months out from the trip, finally got everything cleaned and a few will make the shelf.
Including a Holy Grail Wisconsin can for me. I got a boat load of pictures that I will pile on.
We briefly met up with team Fay Lake Friday morning, Tom shared a Map with us and we went West and they East.
Here's some pics. My first can was a scatter can, a Gambrinus from Ohio, in Wisconsin. We met up at Jon's Saturday morning, we head out and check out a couple spots together then went our separate ways. in a new spot..... Jon and I have been talking about hitting this beach for some time, camping and looking for pits. It was about 20 degrees colder here, we gave it about an hour. found one "clean up" pit. moved on.
more pics coming up....

Re: U.P trip 5-6/7
On the way back to Jon's we spot this moose along Hwy 141
we had a great time around the barrel. Ed Harker showed up Sunday night, Him and Jon were heading out Monday and Tues.
Art, Rockbob and I were heading home Monday. Jay suggested we stop and join them at a dump Ryan and him found a few years ago on the way home. I took them up on this. Ryan found a faded can that took us a little while to ID, we finally realize It's a Black Old Style!!!
Excited we search for more. I brought home about 35 of these Blatz cones thinking many would clean up, this is the only one I kept, and the backs faded. I was having such a good time with Jay, Ryan and the boys, and slow at work, Ryan talked me in to staying a couple more days.
So I headed off with them to the un-finished half frozen dump, Jay found in April. I remembered a big dump near here that I was at with Neil and Jay 8 years ago, but could not find it. No worries Ryan and Ethan find another. more pics coming up.....
