Computer Running Slow?? Let's spend a little time and get it back running smoothly.

Cleaning out the Junk

Junk Files, Temp Files, Cookies etc, clog up your hard drive and slow your computer down. Here is a program that cleans all the unwanted files and leaves the rest alone.
CCleaner

Windows has a built-in Cleaner called Disk Cleanup. It is located in your Start Menu/Program Files/Accessories/Sytem Tools. or type cleanmgr in the run box.

Organize The Hard Drive

As time goes on, files stored on your hard drive become scattered all over the place, these are known as fragmented files. To get the all lined back up in an orderly fashion, Windows has a built-in program called Disk Derfragmenter located in your Start Menu/Program Files/Accessories/System Tools, or type defrag in your run box.

One of the best Defragmenter Programs available is O&O Defrag 21 Professional Edition, which has a 30 Day trial available.

Upgrading the Hardware

Some upgrades are easier thatn others, but the easiest of all is a memory (also know as Ram) upgrade. The more memory your system has, the faster programs will load.
What type and how much memory your system can take, depends on the make and model of the motherboard. Here are few ways to determine the
type, size and amount.

Memory Finder from UpgradeMemory.com. Follow the steps on the manufacturer and model number and the results will tell you the type of memory you need, how much the maximum amount you can install and how many slots that can be filled.
Here is a gret how-to guide from PCWORLD How to Install Ram
