American Brewers Journal Sept 1936 Highlights

So much great stuff only one month featured.

Crown, Cork and Seal give indications that they have designed a pair of new cans. If these are representatives of the tall Ambrosia and Ebling Ale paper label, if seems the cans didn't do well.

Continental Can put out probably one of the most incredible ads with all the cans they produced.

Lion Brewery started a canning line in New Haven, CT. Maybe no room at the brewery. Any other breweries can elsewhere?

Ruppert has the largest painted sign in the USA.

Keith, Koehler also brewed beer in one place (Erie, PA) and canned beer in either Westfield, NY (30 miles from Erie) or Buffalo, NY (100 miles away) according to the blue cone top side panel. I have often wondered why. I believe they also had a canning operation in Erie. I suspect it has something to do with state laws or differing tax rates.

If you go back to pre-pro, many brewers shipped beer in barrels to local cities where a bottler would then fill bottles.

Please let me know if you find more on this issue.

Thanks to the Supplements, we can get a good idea of what that first image might have looked like had they published in color.
