Beautiful Ruppert Marc! Salivating over that one. I only have the newer ones so there is quite a hole in my Ruppert collection between those older Bocks and older Ruppiners (threw in the Malta to prop up the Bock pyramid!).

Re: Show off your BOCK!
Thanks, Dave. The Jacob Ruppert manages to look a little better in the photo than it actually is, but it's pretty good and I'm thrilled to have it. I came home from work one day and found it freshly listed on eBay with a best offer option. I put an offer in and the seller accepted. I knew it was from the Maine auction but didn't realize until later that it was the best of those. The guy sold it at a loss the first day of his eBay listing, which I don't understand.
The goat on the Jacob Ruppert ranks with the best of them in my opinion. As good as the goat looks in photos, it must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
I'm very impressed by the stuff you've posted here and in the "favorite cans" thread!
Marc

Thank you to everyone for sharing more pictures.
Love visually seeing everyone’s favorite Bock cans.
Wish I would have started earlier, now I’m pretty much priced out
of the market for any new additions.

Re: Show off your BOCK!
Living in the northwest, we NEVER find bock cans. Here's the only bock I've ever dug north of the California border. This was found about twenty years ago in Eastern Oregon and was certainly an unexpected but pleasant surprise. We had a little acid with us so gave it a quick soak along with a couple other cans we found that day.

Re: Show off your BOCK!
I neglected to include my cones last time. One is ugly, one is downright hideous, and one is just about the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

In the spirit of adding to this post for posterity here is what I believe is the only known example of a Rheingold Bock and its associated history.

Re: Show off your BOCK!
This is in my top three personal entries of "stupidity has consequences". I passed on this can two or three times when it was available. I wasn't yet particularly serious about Bocks and had no inkling that I would ever be able to get as many as I have, and I let the touch-up work scare me off this one. As noted in the article you posted, it was impossible to tell how much touch-up was done, though it was clearly significant.Clarkston1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:29 pm In the spirit of adding to this post for posterity here is what I believe is the only known example of a Rheingold Bock and its associated history.
There is another pre-war Bock which was believed to be unique, and nobody seems to know what happened to it. It couldn't be located for USBC photography, so the photo there was re-created from the Class Book photo. The can was last known to be owned by a well-known collector but wasn't in his collection when it sold.

Re: Show off your BOCK!
We actually had twin Nubians born today... and one was a Buck.err Bock. Seems really strange that the Lion would just vanish...

Re: Show off your BOCK!
Yes, as you’ve said before, it’s the cans we didn’t buy when given the opportunity that we usually regret the most, not the cans we did buy.mtracy64 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 9:13 amThis is in my top three personal entries of "stupidity has consequences".
