Grace Bros Los Angeles OI
Recently I picked up 2 of these (yellow/red) that were found under a building in LA, one has a very nice OI panel, the other the OI panel is pretty bad, are these anything special? I've come up empty trying for find a picture of an indoorish quality example online.
I found this morean listing, http://moreanauctions.com/Grace_Bros_Ag ... T5297.aspx
mine however is different as in the OI panel the can looks just like the real can.

Can you post a pic of the two you acquired?Onefineday wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 7:01 pm Recently I picked up 2 of these (yellow/red) that were found under a building in LA, one has a very nice OI panel, the other the OI panel is pretty bad, are these anything special? Pics added the other one is pretty much the same on the front and to the right of the seam, but the OI panel is in rough shape, still readable, but rough

Re: Grace Bros Los Angeles OI
Very tough can. Kevin's R9 rating is about right. While there are few exceptions, generally speaking, any can from Grace Bros. LA, is tougher than the Santa Rosa counterpart. Nice find, you won't have any trouble getting rid of the other.
The luckiest dumpers don't rely on good fortune, the unluckiest do.

Love the OI panel with the can in color. I don’t recall seeing that on any other of this cans I have seen.

Re: Grace Bros Los Angeles OI
Almost all the Grace Bros O/Is from Los Angeles have the can pictured in the O/I panel.....

Re: Grace Bros Los Angeles OI
I realize with todays market establishing a value for a can like this is next to impossible, but would anyone with knowledge of this can like to put forth a guess as to what it may bring at auction?

Re: Grace Bros Los Angeles OI
I just checked my shelf, we dug about a dozen of those in 2016 with the Finer Flavor Ale O/Is. I may even have one left in my totes.Onefineday wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 6:37 pm I realize with todays market establishing a value for a can like this is next to impossible, but would anyone with knowledge of this can like to put forth a guess as to what it may bring at auction?
If you took that can to a California show, you may get a couple thousand for it. There was a group of some of really rare CA 30s cans in great condition on ebay a few weeks ago that fetched some pretty good money. You could also put it on ebay with a Buy-It-Now price of $5000 or best offer....and see how much interest there is in it. After all, it is just a variation of a common GB, it is not a Clipper or Monogram. The spotty-ness of the face is going to chase of the few of the mint high rollers away.
I guess it all depends on which auction site you send it to... if you want the most money, send it to the one that manipulates the auction for his own profit. Ebay seems to be the fairest auction site out there.
