2022 want to dump cans

#1

Post by bantam10 »

Being realistic, these are My top 15 cans that I want to dump in 2022..

- Best Export O/I
- Drewrys bock
- Any blatz cone
- Drewrys Ale O/I
- Big Mac
- Frankenmuth Bock
- Schmidt’s Natural Brew 12oz
- Any 16oz flat I don’t have
- Donald Duck soda Flat
- Any Grain Belt Flat/Cone
- Goebel 16oz flat
- Goebel Bock
- Any new Chicago flat
- Anything Buckeye
- Haas HP Cone

Getting harder and harder to find cans I haven’t dumped yet. An out of state trip would be nice.

What’s yours?

Since Any 16oz flat and Goebel 16oz are essentially the same,, I’ll add 1 more to the list.

- Detroit Drewrys.

Mark my words, I’ll find one eventually

Good list but I think you forgot about the Patrick Henry magistrate can. I am still waiting for you to find a twelve pack of them so I can upgrade the can I got from Dave Launt. Even if you do not find that can, I am sure you will have a good 2022.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2023 Shows Attended

* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio
* SummerSwap, July 21 & 22, Frankenmuth Michigan

Ted,
You will dig different variations of Blatz cones in the U.P. Hope you get to knock off some of those cans off that list in "22!

That’s what I’m hoping. I found a buried LP Heidelberg last fall but unfortunately it got ran over and was too bad for me to save. :smt022

Unfortunately, you are probably correct. If what Dave Launt told me is correct, that can was never distributed in Michigan and was only barely distributed elsewhere. He always assumed the 24 cans he dumped at the lake were left behind by a brewery employee.

Bantam, Don't know if you have an Old Vienna flat or a Prima flat from Chicago but I replaced the ones I had and I'd be glad to send my old ones your way if you don't have them. I know they're not dumped by you but thought I'd offer in order to get '22 started on a good note. :smt023 PM your address if you want them.

I appreciate the offer. But I do only collect what I dump with very little exemptions.

On a side note, the Last Chicago can I dumped was my Manhattan . :smt026

I figured they went elsewhere also.
I forgot he dumped some here.

Inquiring minds want to know: so where do people think the Magistrate can was sold, if not in Michigan?

I'm out of town so I can't check right now. I wrote an article about Dave a couple years ago and it was in Rustlings. If you use Randy's viewer, you should be able to find the article and what Dave had to say about it. Based on my memory, I'm leaning towards the cans going to Virginia but I could be mistaken. It's definitely in the article. Either way, the cans were a short run at the end of the brewer's time in Grand Rapids. The bottles are comparatively easier to find.

Wow I can see it going to VA but not Philadelphia or TN..

Really amazing to see how far certain brands made it from home.

Ps.. I think the 220 Water street address is for Benton Harbor.

Thanks for the update. I like it when people follow up with their predictions to show how close or far off they were.
I wish the media people would do this when they predict sports results to show how good or bad they are in guessing.
I know this was a little different, in that you were essentially listing a "wish list" of potential dumper finds. And you did a good job with your finds.

I have never heard of the PH magistrate can being found in VA which is where I live and have dumped forever. The can on my shelf (indoor/offgrade) does not have a tax stamp so I will speculate that TN was the state of distribution for this ever elusive can
