Covid
Unfortunately, I have come down with COVID. Fair warning to those that were close to me.
Very sorry if I infected any of you.

Re: Covid
@Uncle Jackson
Sorry to hear that! Hope everyone affected can fully recover and get back to normal.
That puts a mild damper on what looked like a great event. Wishful thinking that all attendees were were fully or at least partially vaccinated. They say the symptoms should be milder.
This site shares everything for those that visit. And that's a good thing. I wonder if the BCCA will post any announcements or comments on their site?
For what it's worth, I'm still masking up. I wore it at SummerSwap. I wear it grocery shopping or picking up carry-outs for dinner. Local media generally reports on the previous week...how many new cases...how many hospitalized...how many died. Nothing's done. It's still out there.
I'm trying to get another quarter century in (3 down...1 to go). Every winter, I'd generally pick up a cold from being out shopping or something. For what it's worth, I haven't had a cold for three winters now. I have to blame the masking!
That's what's great about this country. You are generally free to do whatever you want...

Re: Covid
I cam down with it this week as well. I suspect almost everyone was exposed and those, like me, who never got it , would most likely get it unless they had some special natural immunity. The shots were unlikely to keep us from getting this but hopefully keep us from getting sick. I imagine most of the unvaccinated people have been exposed by now. I may have seen 2 or 3 people all week wearing masks. Hard to wear them while drinking.

Re: Covid
That just shows that the BCCA leadership has bought into the FB world and cares little or nothing about using their home site for communicating with the rest of the Hobby. They should sh*tcan the BCCA.com URL and live entirely on FB.

Re: Covid
Well rat piss, Marion and I have it too. Fully vaccinated and boosted, so not too worried about us. Just bad cold symptoms so far. A bit worried about the older folks though. Everyone spent a lot of time in each other's faces having fun, so I fear that we may be at the tip of an illness-iceberg.

Re: Covid
Our new president, Mike Newton, does as well.
Thankfully, I seem to be on the mend. Still fatigued, but somewhat functional.
I have notified those I was in close contact with. Some have it, some don’t. Also, seeing some I did not have contact with have it, (Kotto).
Hope all recover well.

Re: Covid
That would screw over anyone (like me) who is not on FB and never will be. I will lose out on information that is posted on the BCCA's web site, like upcoming shows around the country for instance.

Checked in on the Arkansas CRew - they have Covid as well and are recovering nicely. Anyway you slice it, Canvention may be a superspreader event. Pray we don't lose anybody.

Re: Covid
My first post in this forum in a lonnngggg time and it has to do with CV51 and Covid. I am double vaxed and double boosted. Felt like crap Saturday night and Sunday was a long 4½ hours long ride home. ( Like that ½ Danny? ) Tested positive Sunday afternoon. Feel much better today on Day 5 but won't retest until Sunday now. My post in CV51 group has about a dozen positives in it. Regardless of catching this crap or not, CV51 was a good time in a great city with great people.

Re: Covid
Just getting home today after dealing with a week of both being sick and not doing much outside of hotel rooms. I have lingering mild symptoms after being hit hard on the Saturday evening of canvention, while the wife still feels lousy all week. In retrospect, it sounds like a few (2-4) people who were at the RB pizza party were in the contagious stage but were unaware they were sick until later in the weekend (like me). So I would not be surprised if many more RB'ers "have brought home one additional thing from canvention"
Still had a great time AT canvention. It was a good facility and good location.

Re: Covid
I can't get us right to the thread Bill Norris posted on Facebook, but it's in this group.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/5191505 ... &ref=notif
The list of attendees and RB members who have tested positive is north of two dozen, by a casual count. Here's hoping everyone recovers, and soon.

Re: Covid
To me the whole Facebook "BCCA for members" / "BCCA for public" split seems like like a bizarre misapprehension of how the internet works. Hello, you really want us to post things twice, like, forever or until this idea dies away? Or did you imagine you'd be doling out some sort of privileged, confidential information for members -- in a Facebook group?
Ask a kid how to do it.

Re: Covid
If I feel a little better on Saturday, I'm going to compile a list of confirmed cases of Covid as I know it in the Facebook CV51 group. I will only post those who have said themselves that they tested positive. I will NOT create a rumor or "out" someone, only confirmed cases by the person who has it. I will compile others separately. My best guess right now of confirmed cases is between 40-50. I just hope no one dies.

Re: Covid
I have a question.
Did or has the BCCA sent out an E-Blast (email notice) regarding the Covid infections occurring during CANv 51? That was supposed to be their mass-communication tool at one time. Actually a good idea because according to the last Roster I had access to (December, 2021), of the 3,320 members, 87.53% (2,906) provided their email addresses. (The BCCA has never been known for how well it communicates with its membership.)
The only drawback I saw was the BCCA never classified the emails by category to allow members to choose which category of emails you would like to receive. If you were signed up, you got every message whether you were interested in it or not. (A lot of websites actually allow visitors to choose what kind of messages they are going to receive. I actually made that suggestion to the BCCA before I ended opting out of the email communication program.)
If such a notice was released and distributed, good for the BCCA and its membership. If not, another example of the BCCA taking one step forward and leaving the other leg two steps behind.
As always, my $0.02.

Re: Covid
By now, has there been a tally (by anybody), of how many attendees came down with the Covid?
Has the BCCA leadership ever acknowledged that it happened? I really don't care...just curious on that issue.
Hopefully we won't lose anyone to Covid. For everyone affected by it, all I can do is wish y'all mild symptoms and a speedy recovery, hoping that you can be done with it.

Re: Covid
I don't know if anyone compiled a list of Covid cases from CV51 or not BUT judging from some of the PM's I got as well as the posts in the CV51 Host Chapters group, my best guess is at least 50. I had a sore throat on Friday and felt like I was getting a bad cold on Saturday and was really feeling bad on Sunday for the drive home. I tested positive for 12 days after my first test. All in all though, CV51 was a great success and I'm proud to say that I played a small role in the planning of it on the host chapter level.
