soda guys - anything here?

#1

Post by bodean »

I got these bottles while helping my FIL move awhile back. Don’t know much about sodas and even less about bottles but, being the hoarder I am, I couldn’t toss them. I don’t collect sodas but I’d like to keep the Cokes simply because the better half has one of the bathrooms decked out in Coke stuff. If you soda collectors would like to have any of the others, I’d let them go for the shipping. I’m not sure about dating them but if they’re anything like the old bar bottles we used to buy, the Dr Pepper is from 1956 and the 7up is from 1960. The rest I’m not sure about the age.

@willssoda

This post may get overlooked here. The General Discussion or Advertising sections may be better. In the meantime, I have alerted Will. He will know everything about these. There are other collectors on this site that like pop cans/bottles but I do not recall who.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

I can’t quite make out the three in the center but Typically ACL’s (applied color label) with no city are common and less than $10; however, ones that list cities bring more and typically will depend on what city and who needs it. Common cities like New York, Chicago etc made a lot of bottles because the population in these areas were greater. Finding ACL’s from smaller cities and towns will typically bring more money. And there is always condition fade, case wear, chips, scratches, staining etc all affect the value
Hope this helps.
Interested in all flat and Cone Soda and Water cans.

Thanks Will. The only bottle with a city is the empty green coke (Little Rock). I had never heard of Mr. Cola, which is the only reason I kept it, I don't think it's too old. Maybe 1970's? One thing I did notice was those old 6 oz. bottles weigh almost as much as the newer 12 oz.
