11% rebate from Home Depot or Lowes

Menard's is a competitor of Home Depot and Lowes but it is not national so if you live out west or in Canada you may not be familiar with this chain. For those of you who live in an area Menard's serves, you are probably familiar with their 11% rebate sales. The way they work is you go in the week of the promotion, buy whatever you want and then you can mail in for a 11% rebate payable in store credit.

Did you know Lowes and Home Depot will match this? They will but only in the areas served by Menards so some of you are out of luck. I like Home Depot better so every time Menard's does their 11% sale, I buy what I want at Home Depot instead. Home Depot used to make you mail in your receipt but now you can do it online.

For Lowes, simply go to their home page.

https://www.lowes.com/

If you click on the Find A Store down arrow and specify a store in an area served by Menards, you will see the following screen. Otherwise, the 11% deal will not be mentioned.

By the way, this is what I bought today. It is a great addition to my garage.

Great stores, but the nearest Menards is 100 miles away. Would love to see one in the area as the Home Depot and Lowes have gone downhill.

Our Lowes store is less then a mile from our Menards. But yet still won't offer 11%. But I guess Home Depot and Menards is all for us.

This is a great thread to resurrect. I like Home Depot better than Menards for most things and it is closer to my house so I have taken advantage of this deal countless times. Each time, I go to the site mentioned above and then about a month later, a Home Depot gift card arrived in the mail.

Home Depot also have a Military and Veteran discount of %10 that Menards wont match. I tend to go to Home Depot first and Menards only if I can't find it at home depot.

Just to clarify the Military Discounts, here's the actual verbiage:
Military Discount Eligibility: Please read the discount information for each store closely. These discounts may or may not be available to all military veterans on a daily basis. In general, both Home Depot and Lowe’s offer a 10% discount to all currently serving military members with proper military ID, retired military members with ID, and veterans with a service-connected disability rating and VA health care ID card with a service-connected designation. Some veterans have reported being able to receive a discount with a driver’s license featuring a veteran’s designation (this is not always accepted at all locations).
I have been denied the discount at Home Depot especially by younger sales staff even though my Michigan Drivers License states that I'm a Veteran. I'm not active military, not retired military, don't have a service-connected disability and those are the excuses I get for being denied.

I get the military discount at Lowe's 100% of the time.

I don't shop Menards because I think of it as the Walmart of Home improvement stores. And if I'm not mistaken, the 11% is with a mail-in rebate. If that's the case, they got your money, make interest on it until you send in the rebate request and then they will refund it in the form of a store credit. I could be completely wrong here but that what I understood it to be.

Ive never looked at the verbage. I just ask and show my ID. I have a 10% service disability so its probably easier with the VA ID.
Menards never gives anything and home depot always does. Menards wont even match Veteran's day or Memorial day sales at any of the other hardware stores. Never tried Lowes. Its too far away from me.
