Looking at the lineup for Coachella I'd say 3/5'ths of G'N'R plus Angus is the only thing worth listening to!

Re: No one hates Axl Rose more than me , But...
Anyone up for a debate as to who wrote the lyrics for the Back In Black LP? I've always thought it was obviously Bon Scott's work, but the band denies it. Either way, that's their last great album in my book. Angus is great, but Bon was the key to the whole thing for me.

Well as for the song it's self, Brian Johnson is credited with writing it...what a way to set the stage for yourself and the future of the band at the time, yes I agree that Bon was great and love watching and listing to him!....Even today now with Brian gone the legions of fans still fill full sized stadiums to see the legend that is the essence of AC/DC...................... Re: No one hates Axl Rose more than me , But...
That's sort of my point . . . Johnson is credited for the entire album, yet the Youngs are credited for lyrics on the vast majority of the band's subsequent ouput. Bon's distinctive humor and double entendres, still present for the Back In Black LP, disappear almost completely afterwards. I've always believed Bon wrote at least seven of the tracks on Back In Black.

I agree!....When Bon Scott passed away they lost the main part of the Band......I always thought Angus is a super Guitarist but Bon's Lyric's and voice made AC/DC what they were or should I say who they were!!........One of the greatest Rock Bands of all time!
As far as Back in Black goes my opinion is this.It is a alright Album!!.....It has one great tune on it that being"You Shook Me All Night Long"......I love that Song!.......Brian Johnson just didn't do it for me!....Highway too Hell is Bon's last hurrah!!

Re: No one hates Axl Rose more than me , But...
Brian Johnson is credited with lyrics for all of AC/DC's 80s output. Bon Scott died in 1979, while Highway To Hell was moving up the charts and well before work was begun on Back In Black. No "Paul is dead" -type rumors there that I can see.
It all depends on whether you're buying or selling.

Bon Scott died in February 1980, and Back In Black was cut in April. Brian Johnson is credited for lyrics on 29 tracks total.

Re: No one hates Axl Rose more than me , But...
Your first sentence conceded, except to clarify BIB was cut in April & May, released in July.
My post was working mostly from memory, and then supported by Wikipedia info. It was quicker than AllMusic, but a look around there supports what I posted. I have no idea where your 29 comes from. BIB and FTATR would account for 20 right off the bat. I don't have the physical media handy, and checking songs individually is time consuming.
edit: I did find a Wikipedia entry of "29 total" Brian Johnson songwriting credits. It's wrong.
All the 80s AC/DC releases I know of show Young-Young-Johnson as songwriters (with Scott in Johnson's place prior to his death (instrumentals excluded, of course)).
Also found this:
"The 1988 album Blow Up Your Video was the last AC/DC album to feature lyrics from Johnson. Starting with The Razors Edge in 1990, guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young have written all of AC/DC's material. When asked by a fan during a radio interview why he stopped contributing lyrics, he laughed, "I ran out of words" and went on to explain that during recording he didn't always enjoy the pressure of having to come up with an album's worth of lyrics and was relieved when the Young brothers filled in during The Razors Edge. The band has since continued in that tradition for every album since. In 2014, they released their eleventh album with Johnson, Rock or Bust."
The main point is that although Bon and Brian shared a talent for singing about sex, girls, drinking, and partying, there are differences evident from BIB on. "You Shook Me.." <another edit:> I was going to write... If you listen closely, You Shook Me... is not a lyric Bon Scott would write.

Re: No one hates Axl Rose more than me , But...
Well... You asked.mtracy64 wrote:Anyone up for a debate as to who wrote the lyrics for the Back In Black LP?
The clincher for me, divulged at this time to break the silence, is that despite any similarities to the Bon Scott era, the overall subject of "You Shook Me All Night Long" is the singer describing being bested during the night of pleasure. It is my contention that Bon Scott would never write such a lyric. It just wasn't who he was.
There are later Brian Johnson tracks that really aren't that much different than "Giving The Dog A Bone" or any of the other double entendre tracks from BIB.
Finally, all the above makes no mention of an explanation for the band creating a (de facto, at least) Bon Scott tribute album yet stealing his lyrics to do it.
I yield the floor.
It all depends on whether you're buying or selling.

Re: No one hates Axl Rose more than me , But...
Funny, for me Given The Dog A Bone is the one that is obviously not Bon.
My "physical media" runs out at BIB, except that I do have Who Made Who. For me, the magic that ran throughout the Bon Scott era and BIB, disappeared almost completely immediately after BIB. I can count the tracks I really like from that point on on the fingers of one hand.
Bon had the humility to pen a track about sleeping with "the biggest, fattest woman in the world", so I don't think it's a stretch for him to write about being bested by a woman.
I assumed for many years that it was a foregone conclusion that Bon had written most of BIB and didn't delve into it. Then I found a book on Bon and a couple more on the band. I found from reading these books that many fans held this same opinion, enough that the Young brothers were compelled to issue denials. The Youngs concede the fact that they were well into work on another album with Bon and that lyrics were written by Bon for several tracks. Bon's girl states that his notebook of lyrics went missing upon his death. So, though I didn't know it for many years, there IS controversy on the topic.
The part I struggle with the most, though, is Brian "running out of words". This is exceedingly rare for lyricists outside of cases of long-term use of heavy drugs, which the Youngs simply would not have tolerated. Writing is an art, and practitioners typically get better with time.

I agree anything after Back in Black doesn't really do it for me.You Shook me all Night Long is on of my Favorite AC/DC tunes.I would really liked too have heard how it would have sounded with Bon doing the vocals! We will never know! There maybe 10 tracks after Back in Black that I will listen too.A few other Classic Bon tunes.
1.Go Down From Let there be Rock
2.She's got Ball's from High Voltage
3.Kicked in the Teeth Again from Powerage by the way a Great Album!
4.The Jack from High Voltage
I tell a friend at work who just loves AC/DC with Brian Johnson. There is no comparison between Johnson and Bon Scott none at all!....Bon Rocks!!

Re: No one hates Axl Rose more than me , But...
Yeah, Powerage is my favorite AC / DC studio album . . . Up To My Neck In You is right up there with Kicked In The Teeth Again.
