Between redtide killing everything in the bay and being busy at work, I haven't been out since September last year. Last Sunday I was able to find a few Redfish. Then this morning I got out a a couple hours and found a nice 34" Snook and a 33" Redfish.

Wish I was there beside you! (I'd trade you some hair for a boat ride!)

You are welcome to that boat ride if you are ever down this way. As for the hair, no worries, I like not having much.

Super snook, Chuck! Bet that was a battle-
Had my hands full today with my ultralite in a still swollen feeder creek connected to a large lake. Most rivers and creeks are considered state waterways and have different seasons, so game on here! Caught this at high noon in about five feet of water that is only about as wide as the road- still took ten minutes to get ‘em up! Some serious head shaking, rod thumping action- heading for the frying pan. Ziphippie

I especially love the setting. A small creek in the middle of nowhere miles upstream from Lake Koshkonong, second largest lake by surface area in WI . The walleyes only slide in here when the water is high and this year it’s the most swollen I’ve ever seen. It’s tough to find an old bridge in southern WI these days- one of those ‘secret spots’. That is so cool. I only think of catching walleye in open water of a big lake. Didn't know they moved into the rivers creeks.

Also agree the location can make a trip. The destination is as much a part of the fishing as the catching. The mountains out west and Yellowstone national park, Everglades national park/10,000 island area is SW Florida, Mississippi delta, low country of South Carolina, are all some of the most beautiful places to go. This fishing just makes them so much better.

I too agree mostly .. I never had walleye in the Baltimore area except a few locations. But the yellow perch used to run way up creeks from the bay + lakes. I heard that walleye follow the perch up north. In lake Erie (Pa.) There are no creeks that would sustain a perch spawning run so they + the walleye spawn on points and other shallow locations.
You have a great location near that culvert. I would love to be with you when you strike gold.

Got out last night for my first Tarpon trip of the year and had a great night. I went 5 for 8, (5 fish to the boat out of 8 fish hooked). With this fish anything over 50% land rate is fantastic. If you have never caught a Tarpon you have no idea what it like. The small ones, 70 -100 pounds, are fun. They jump a lot, pull hard, but the fight is usually fairly short. The 100 - 150 pound fish are tougher with lots of big jumps and long drag pulling runs. These fish hurt. Then there are the big girls. 150 pound+ fish. Some may jump, others don't jump at all. These monsters pull like a truck. The fight can last for hours if you don't know how to fight them. When you are done with the fight you question your sanity for wanting to mess with a fish this big and strong.

This is about 130 pound fish.

I’d love to watch that video, Chuck! Denied.
Been hammering some nice pike with the warm weather, things are only heating up! Big, home built bait= big fish. That’s a 6 inch twister tail on the back of my Norski buxtail- I rigged up a stinger hook for short strikes and it has paid off. This one was pushing 40”, fat and healthy- took me for a ride. Cameraman was fed to the gators. Ziphippie

Some unlucky kid in Fox Lake, WI jumped out of boat and landed in a big pikes mouth- tore up his foot. They are snapping, some viscous attacks! I caught six and lost six. Biggest was 39.5”- still haven’t broke the 40” for pike this year. Had some on that were bigger but- well, you know...it happens. Somewhere in that giant, gaping mouth is a Norski bucktail- Ziphippie

Had a few trips to my local favorite creek with average results with the Steel .. oldest came home for a week after moving from Squam to St Pete’s for some work and wanted some Steel .. well he tried but younger son got his 1st and lost another and sees and feels the allure of chasing Steel .. I got into a decent one and hope the Jaw gets Zip-hippies attention .. oldest was in St Pete’s for couple months doing under water construction and is making another move for a job more up his marine studies type work - will be in KEY LARGO with prolly acces to boats , now what will I be doing during Easter break ?? Fish get oxygen by filtering water through their gills. Imagine fighting for your life and then being denied oxygen, you’d also gasp for air! Or Genny!
My brother is a fisheries biologist- hates it when photos are taken of fish out of water, studies show they experience a high percentage of death by shock. I tell him the raccoons need to eat too.
Your boy looks just like you with beer in hand- great pics! Ziphippie
