I see there are no cans listed for Hawaii. I was stationed on Oahu from Nov '86 to Mar '89 and did deliberately go dumping a time or two, at least I tried. Each time all I could come up with was rust, cans rusted beyond recognition or just tops & bottoms remaining. Some rusted out cans with aluminum flat tops but totally consumed with rust & big holes. Salt eats everything near the beaches, up in the hills it is a steaming swamp and rains daily.
Made several hops over to Kohoalawe island which was worse, everything bleached by the sun to white or shiny aluminum.
I don't know if this counts but one day while stationed at Pearl Harbor my Gunny told us we would be blowing off work that day and we took over the beach at Hickam AFB next door. I spotted some current pulltabs I did not have in a trash can and went diving. Came up with a Coors, a Budweiser with a promotional back and some Heineken bottles with "FOR MILITARY CONSUMPTION ONLY" accross the label. When I emerged with my trophies I was met by the sneers of two passing airmen who gave me that "typical neanderthal jarhead" look like I was some kind of food scrounging bag lady.
