Fehrs 62-29 vs 62-30?

#1

Post by JL Patterson »

Hi everyone.

I have a question for anyone familiar with Fehr flat top differences - specifically between the 62-29 and 62-30.

For whatever reason (for which I cannot presently locate the source) I thought the difference between these two cans was as follows:

62-29: The X/L shield has a blue background.
62-30: The X/L shield has a black background.

I'm thinking that my understanding may be mistaken, and therefore am in need of expert knowledge.

I have purchased, and now own, four cans of these supposed two varieties. One has a moderately dark blue shield (a 62-29?), and three have extremely dark blue shields - such that under certain light and camera images look black - but in hand under good lighting they definitely show as VERY, VERY dark blue. NONE of them represent as having a truly BLACK shield.

In one instance I bought an example from a formal professional beer can web site that stated it was a 62-30. The shield looked black in the photos on the site, but - again - once I received it and inspected it in hand, it was not actually black.

BOTTOM LINE: Is 62-30 an extremely dark blue shield? Or is it a black shield?

Many thanks in advance to those-in-the-know!!

Jim P.

Here are photos of a couple of cans I have.

This version has a blue shield (not too dark). I believe it must be a 62-29:

The one I recently purchased was labeled as a 62-30. The shield looked black in the ad, but is actually a very dark blue. Is it truly a 62-30?:
