Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
Cheating a bit here, but I was able to sift through some of Ed Papin's totes last Saturday in Missouri as he was pricing cans and preparing to head to Cleveland. If we can consider the Red Top, ABC Ale, and Progress cans as "Canvention pre-sales", then I suppose they fit into this thread. Those three cans sort of broke my piggy bank for the actual Canvention itself, but I was able to pick up the Royal Amber (finally!) and an upgrade for my Koenig Brau.
Had a blast hanging out with everyone. Went by too fast, as always.

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
Way to go John! This is kind of funny. Ed didn't bring his cones to his room so there was really nothing there that he had that I cared about, but I did make the mental note when I walked in there that the ABC Ale was not there! I knew he had one and was wondering where that puppy had gone. I'm glad you got it! Matt

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
This is my pickup from my first ever canvention. A huge thanks to Keith for getting me out to Cleveland. It was totally worth the drive!
I'd say this four panel Badger was my favorite pickup of the whole trip.
Another big thanks to everyone that I met that made my first canvention that much better.

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
From a quality standpoint, you are on point. However, I think over time you'll find that the Apollo, Stroud, Cremo, and the Iron City if that's an OI are going to be the tougher ones to find again....

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
I thought Hark had a VERY reasonable price on the Badger, and it was nice to learn that it was dug in WI as well.

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
Yep. In and out on Wednesday. Picked up two cans that made me very happy: (1) Carlings OD that says "Carlings" at the bottom of the oval (somebody from Cleveland had just opened his room and there behold was his Cleveland collection with the long coveted Carlings OD sitting there; and (2) Mexicali cone in very nice shape. A variety of off grade stuff as well, but those were the two cans that made things work for me. Ed did not have have his cones in his room on Wednesday, but I figured I would have plenty of time in the future to go over to his house and see what he has. I couldn't have afforded to buy anything from him at that point anyway.

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
Had a great time at Canvention and enjoyed meeting more of the Rusty Brothers. Always better to have a face to go with a name.
I picked up a ton of new craft cans, but these are the cans I'm really happy about acquiring.
Here's what I bought: Really happy to finally own an A-1 10 ounce! And the rest of these I traded for or picked up in the Rusty Bunch Dump:
Would have loved to have picked up more cones, but it wasn't meant to be.

Here is the Carling's cone. The can I got at Canvention is on the left.
Here is the Mexicali.

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
A few of the cans that came to me in Cleveland -
The dull gold Karlsberg flat dates from the mid 50's when the Saar was independent of France and Germany after WWII. The metallic gold Karlsberg flat dates from after reunification with Germany in the late 50's. One of those OC/OC fascinations.
The VIENNA EXPORT LAGER-BIER flats from Austria have a small variation - "VIENNA BEER" versus "VIENNA AUSTRIA".
And the BIK flat from Switzerland certifies once again my commitment to "rust"!

Re: POST YOUR CANVENTION AND PICKUPS HERE PLEASE
I did not pick up much this year but brought these home.
The Club Special is a big upgrade. The Lancers is actually a downgrade but still an improvement. My other one is rolled with an incorrect lid and is a little short. The Rainier is a wind tunnel can I picked up since I did not get any in my original haul. I'm on the fence though whether to keep this one or my all original dumper of which there are only a couple.
My can of the show was the 11 oz. Finer Flaver O/I. I've only seen one other so was thrilled to pick this one up.
It was a fun Canvention overall. My wife came last year when it was in our hometown and I asked if she wanted to go this year. Surprisingly she said yes. The R&R hall of fame has been something she's wanted to see so this was her opportunity.
When we got to our room the first thing we noticed was a very overpowering sweet like smell. We both commented that they used some pretty strong cleaning products figuring that's what it was. After being in some other rooms (which smelled normal) we were still overpowered by the odor when we came back to ours. It was at that point we realized that somebody must have spilled an entire bottle of cologne on the floor. There was no way we were going to put up with that for four days so we called management. They upgraded us to a corner room on the 30th floor with a killer view on two sides and gave us a $50 voucher at the restaurant. The nicer room greatly enhanced our experience.

There's one in Santa Barbara also, unless it's moved as so many other cans have recently.
