Couldn't make Tahoe work this summer - there's a celebrity golf tournament in town that weekend & they don't want to give up $100 rooms when the can charge $300+ that weekend. So we are now introducing the "Pony Express 2020 Show in Pollock Pines, California" Saturday July 18 at the Pollock Pines Community Center 8am-1pm (40 miles W of Tahoe in the woods). BBQs & parties at Dave Rusk's house Wednesday night(15th),Thursday night (16th) & Friday night-17th. Best Western Stagecoach Inn (530-644-2029) has rooms: $140 Friday night/ $130 Wed/Thurs night - just mention 49er Chapter for room rate. Yes, there will be 3 days pre-show digging and meet back up at Dave's house each night for BBQ, can cleaning, telling stories & lies!! Make your plans now! Fly into Reno or Sacramento (Sacto may be cheaper & closer.)

BTW - Pollock Pines was a Pony Express (Sportsman Hall) stop between Tahoe & Sacramento in the 1860s...

&&& I'm planning a Kokanee Salmon fishing trip Friday morning on Lake Tahoe with a guide, anyone is welcome to go. We can go back out digging afterwards... Hopefully, fish fry Friday night! The guides charge about $150/person...

The Pollock Pines Pony Express Show 2020 is a GO! The Community Center cancelled our reservation but the show is now fully at Dave Rusk's house, more specifically, his backyard. Digging excursions will start probably on Tuesday and we'll meet back up at Dave's at night (each night) for BBq-ing, Buy-Sell-Trade and BS-ing all night(s). Main party is Friday night and will wrap up the show Saturday morning. If you are going, bring a couple camp/lawn chairs to use in Dave's backyard under the pines....

Sounds like old school (shows over at collectors houses) is the only way to even consider something in the near future.....

I think they'll have to start out on a small scale.... I don't expect more than 12 - 20 attendees. Dave Rusk said all the restaurants and shops are opening up in the Placierville/Pollock Pines area. South Lake Tahoe business (50 miles east) are closed but the beaches on the North Shore are open. Hopefully by 4th of July, more things will open....

Our motel where we booked a block of rooms is not re-opening, so book your rooms in Placierville, Ca which is 11 miles away from Dave's. We are digging before the show and meeting back at Dave's each night for can-cleaning, splitting, BBQ and beer drinking... and who knows who or what will pop up!? West Coast diggers will be at the show in full-force....

I am sure Danny Camacho will film the action for us! He's coming all the way down form North Pole, Alaska! No excuses for the rest of you couch potatos! It is going to be a blast! Dale has to help his daughter move across country so will miss the show but will dig back east for a few weeks. I have to find something really good to make him very jealous!
