Crowntainer Canning Codes

#1

Post by jacoby4664 »

Why are there no canning codes on any crowntainers? I have yet to see one with a canning code stamped on the bottom like all other older cans.

Really, none of the Crowntainers have date codes stamped on the bottom? I find that exceedingly odd since it was the brewer's decision whether to stamp the cans or not. Few users of J-Spouts stamped the cans, but Brockert, Cremo, Koller, Schmidt and Standard all did so, and all but Brockert also used Crowntainers.

Thanks for the feedback Marc. I am still wondering why? Still have not seen a single one with a bottom stamped canning code. Just a thought, but maybe the convex bottom of the can was too deep for the coding machinery?

I guess we don't know what a Crowntainer canning line looked like, but a Crowntainer bottom is of similar depth to the concave bottoms on other cones. It's a conundrum for sure.

On the plus side, I was given moderator access a few years ago to manage one thread, and I was able to figure out how to move this to General Discussion where it will get more looks.
