Summer "beer can" Safari
Took a trip out to wilds of Oregon the last week of July with Ed, Dale, Conehead Jim, and Steve A.
Ed led us into some cool historic places used by past hunters, campers, and cowboys. Beautiful scenery and the weather was great, around the mid to upper eighties during the day and much cooler at night. Fortunately the heat bubble this area had been experiencing had subsided. Another fantastic adventure out west.
Here's a few of my pictures
First camp, this is a place Ed and Dale were at earlier in the year where they found some Horlucks OIs, ABCs and a Tornburgs cone.
The five of us hit it hard hoping for some more pre war pits. With the drought conditions no fires were allowed, Ed saved the nights with this propane fire pit, we used it every day for atmosphere, heat and cooking. That first night it got down into the upper forties. Though this spot didn't produce like we hoped, we found a few stragglers.
I ended up with three new OIs for the shelf. We ended up finding several more 50s & 60s pits of beer and soda at this camp. more pics coming up......

I ended up with the lions share of the cans once again, as the guys already have these cans or they don't fit there collections.
Great time, looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for everything Ed,
Here's to mud on your boots,

Jim Asks, what do you see in there Steve? looks like a bowling Jubilee can!
It was like Christmas the day my cans arrived.
At times it was so quite you could hear the cicadas in your head. Had a great time hanging out with these guys, dixie kansas.I ended up with the lions share of the cans once again, as the guys already have these cans or they don't fit there collections.

I don't know the consensus either......but I have my opinion....it's faded. There are enough partially yellow/partially white examples around to have convinced me.Rusty Jonesin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 5:47 pm Lilek believes 757 is discolored white from being in the ground, I don't know what the consensus is

Thanks for your opinion, I was hoping you would chime in on this.
This is my first experience with this can, the two cans in my pic were first cleaned by Ed and then I gave them a quick dip again to get some more rust off, that faded some more of the cream/orange on the one. I also got another 8to 10 un-cleaned Sicks cans, they were rough, covered in rust but I could make out the cream/orange color on some. After a good overnight soak they turned out pretty decent, yet all the cream/orange color was changed to an off white color. Not bright white. I think this particular paint/ink color is even weaker than most reds. I am leaning towards fade as well. Apparently there is no known on grade white example of this can. For now still keeping both.

A few more pix.....
Rusty on KP Duty! The canopy was a Godsend! It rained one night and it paid for itself as we put 2 together and were dry while hanging out after supper....
Steve A pops the best Horlucks....
Cans before breakfast... always a good sign!
Badger Camp...named after a Badger sighting.... BIGFOOT far left!
Conehead's tent, far right, reminds me of the 3 Stooges' horse, with the sag in the middle!
We returned to the last place we dig on the snow covered washout in May. Bill Lindstrom had found 2 smashed Burgie Ales... we figured there has to be more!

Rusty,
Don't stop posting pictures of the scenery and wildlife (bugs included). Enjoy them as much as the dumping pictures.

Re: Summer "beer can" Safari
I finally got my take together for a photo op.
May favorite can is most likely the Mountain Dew. I always wanted one of those. Any of you soda guys need/want one of the Cokes with the radio offers. They were just to nice to leave behing.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?
