9-19

Post by bantam10 »

Was back up in the U.P for another day of adventures.
Hit my beer can hill again and got a bag and a 1/4 of cans here and 2 pop bottles.
After that I did some freestyle searching and found a roadside dump! But NO beer cans. All food cans :smt022

Rest of the day was scatter/pit dumping. Had my main detector crap out on me so I had to use my spare I brought. Found an old abandoned road with a washed out bridge that had a few cans. Next spot was absolutely loaded, with one low spot hiding everything from Crowntainers to Bosch Fab tabs.

Ended the day with Numerous other small camper can piles. I can’t believe how common strohs is up here.

Can’t wait for next weekend.

Here’s my loot.
Several upgrades and new shelf cans.
Bosch zip is one I’ve been wanting to dump.

Thanks so much for posting your adventures. This has been a brutal year for me working really long hours with no time off, so obviously no dumping trips.

Your posts remind me of how much I really love being out in the woods on the hunt.

Maybe next year will be better.
I shall leave no cone unturned!!

One of my mystery cans is a low calorie del monte cola from San Francisco CA! Talk about a traveler!

Definitely need to keep an eye out for those Bosch Premium zip tops. I think we've been tossing those over our shoulders in dumps for years and didn't know it. The tab top Bosch cans don't seem to hold up as good as the flat tops.

It’s a beer. And it held up way better than any of the flats

-Newest Pabst is a variation
-big K is a new can
- Del monte is a new can, and a hell of a traveler.
-Both Goebels in middle row are upgrades
- Dixi Cola is a new can

Goebel is probably the 3rd most common brand I find. I used to enjoy it, but now since I have almost every major variation in good shape it’s not as exciting. All I need are the bocks and the pint cans and It should be almost complete

Del Monte is a very common California brand that is primarily known for canned vegetables. Their soda cans are turn up frequently in California and I usually find a few when I'm digging down there. I don't recall ever finding a diet soda from them before so that's probably a decent can. In Oregon we don't find Del Monte sodas so in spite of being a popular brand, their distribution is probably limited. Definitely an oddball find for Michigan.
The luckiest dumpers don't rely on good fortune, the unluckiest do.

Nice digs Bantam. I could Tell you some good areas to hit in the upper. It depends on how far west you are going. I know of a few dumps that are far from finished. I don’t plan on being up there anytime soon.

Cool. I could use a few leads if you’re willing to share. I haven’t gone too far west, but I need to change that. But I won’t be back up until spring. Last trip of the year will be down here Saturday
