Diggin out West
I was fortunate to get a couple of weeks off recently and met up with canaddict for some digging and camping fun. We were into cans virtually the whole time. The rarest we found were some grade 5- Cremo OIs. And I had to drive to CA to find my first Walter's Bock flat from Pueblo. Also found some Malt and Men Tivolis

Re: Diggin out West
Bugsy is almost 15 now, but can still sniff out the cans, and then take a nap next to the pit.

Re: Diggin out West
We had another amazing trip! We battled the elements, nature, and a few logistical situations, but we survived 7 days in the middle of nowhere (and found lots of cans!).

Re: Diggin out West
The color of those cans in ground is fantastic. Thanks for sharing all the pics of the trip! Looks like dumping has forged a close friendship between the two of you! That's what is one of the greatest rewards of this hobby, the time spent in the great outdoors with friends!

Re: Diggin out West
Greg,
Still looking forward to getting out with you and the crew in the near future!
I found what I think is a pretty decent Buffalo and a not so decent Buffalo. Hoping the one cleans up. We found a **** of low profile Rainier cones (white can), some Sierra cones, and lots and lots of Acme's (of all sorts). Probably 50+ Burgermeister flats (of all sorts) in good condition, some ABCs, pre-war Pabst, several Brown Derbys, tons and tons of Luckys (of all sorts) and Olympia one sided cans, as to be expected. Regan found a few decent Golf Medal flats. Actually, when you look back at it, we found quite a bit of variety, but nothing super rare except for the Cremo flats. We left many a large pit virtually undisturbed because we were limited on time and looking for great condition. Quite a few mystery cans, which I am hoping clean up.
Can't wait to get back out there!

Buckeyrust,
You called it! It wasn't quite the "Badger" we were looking for, but I don't think too many people can say they have seen a real one.

Re: Diggin out West
As always, I love seeing the dumping pics from out west. Dumping here means looking in a thin strip of woods between a strip mall and a massage parlor. The last bear I saw was at the National Zoo in D.C. Keep the pics coming, I still hope that some day I can do a multi day dumping trip out in that beautiful country.

Re: Diggin out West
A few more out of the acid. The Golden Brews may be the cleanest cans we found, buried for @60 years! The El Rey was a mystery pit can, but unfortunately looks like it was left out in the sun for awhile before burial. Rainier Club and Pabst IRTPs are post war 3 patent cans.

Re: Diggin out West
Always amazed by how clean cans come out of the ground out west. Cans that old would come out of the ground here with four particles of rust holding the whole thing together.

Re: Diggin out West
I had time to clean a few more cans. The Pilsengold and GB were mysteries. The partial Cremo OI is my new bestest-worstest can Who can tell me which label the cool "Frost Finished" lids were put on?

Re: Diggin out West
I guess the Cremos weren't the rarest cans we found. Too bad this won't clean up. Tough El Rey BC label. Also found this cool Regal double stamp

Re: Diggin out West
Here are my new cans for the "dumped it myself shelf" from the recent Digging Out West trip with Mountainrust.
This was an absolutely amazing trip in all aspects. We found quite a few additionally that either didn't make the cut including some white Rainier cones, ABC, and many others. I would say in all, we found about 15 large size virgin pits of cans. Unfortunately condition was really bad on most of them, so we gave up and moved on after little digging. The cans are obviously still out there.
Big thanks to Regan for handling the strategic planning and can cleaning!
Can't wait for the next one!

Re: Diggin out West
Never heard of a badger in the Sierras.
A week or two after seeing the post here, caught a news story about
how rare badgers are in the Sierras.
