I brought this 16oz Regal ZT to KC to see if they needed a picture of it for the book along with a couple other tall tabs I thought might be needed. They photo'd my 16oz Cold Brau ZT but told me they had this can photo'd already. Whoops! Not a minor variation - but a completely different label and earlier label than the other 16oz Regals pictured - both of which are pretty common. I know one other collector who told me he had this can in a flattop - which would be cool to see. It is not in the USBC Volume I or II, with perhaps only one known example as a flat and one known as a zip. I believe I spoke to Mike Zane about it and he'd not heard of it, I wonder if Kip who knows FL cans as good as anyone has it, or knows of other examples?? If either of these guys visit this board - would love any insight they or anyone else on this board has on this can.

It is identical to it's 12oz little bro in every way except my 12oz has advertising lids on top and bottom.

I must recant one part of my earlier post - these cans are not identical!?!? Check out the Braumeister listed on the 12oz vs 16oz cans - different guy! Is there 2 versions of the 12oz in the USBC II - with different Braumeisters? Did Regal change Braumeisters part way thru 1963 - so there are 2 versions of this can?

12oz Braumeister - Reinhold J Asbeck
16oz Braumeister - Ernest Dwinger

Asst Braumeister is Emilio F Leonard on both.

Hmmmmmm.......

A couple more from the shelves...The trim on the Hamm's is RED and not the usual gold-to-bronze color. The GB is bottom opened with a Premium-Strong vanity lid on the bottom. The Schell's, well, I really don't know about them...

It looks that those Schell's missed getting the black to me. Maybe a test, maybe a mistake.

I just got my copy today and have been going over my cans. So far I have found a few omissions such as this Heidelberg from carling. Similiar to 75-13, but has the Carling name in the triangle instead of the H.
75-12.5.JPG
I have 111-35 (Rainier) in metallic and enamel gold, and 111-26 (Rainier Ale) with and without a 6% alcohol statement on the side.
PDR_0535.JPG
Also two more Olympia Golds from Olympia
From Olympia Brewing
From Olympia Brewing
and two more from Pabst that may be past their cut off date
The cities are differant on both of these
The cities are differant on both of these
PDR_0532.JPG
Test can not shown from Olympia brewing
PDR_0533.JPG
One question I have is if it doesn't say metallic or enamel in the notes, Should it be presumed they are enamel? Overall a decent book, I just wish there was more room for notes.
:smt025

edit:
Ok here are some more I found--------and I added pics above
Brew 102 like 45-26,27,28 But from Vancouver only

Blitz 43-33, I have 2 similiar but they are aluminum w/no UPC. One says 'A recyclable aluminum can' and the other just 'Recyclable aluminum can'

Lucky 89-33 Mine is metallic, not enamel
Lucky 89-39 Also a version with the words in Spanish on the back.

I wasn't so ambitious to pull all the cans down and look for minor variations but did find 4 cans not listed:

67-30 and 67-37 --- I have the Button Top version of both cans - not listed as an option

The skipped Peter Hand Completely:

Peter Hand 1891 Export Lager (SS Tab can)
Peter Hand Extra Light (SS Tab can)
Anyone have a Centlivre they wanna part with?

I found this can packed away in a traders box months after the photographing stage of the book was completed. All original for sure. Anybody else ever see this can as a tab?

LAST WEEKEND I WAS OUT SCROUNGING AROUND BEHIND AN AREA WHERE AN OLD INN WITH SOME CABINS HAD BEEN BULLDOZED TO MAKE WAY FOR A NEW SUBDIVISION. I FOUND ALL TABS, ALL NATIONAL BRANDS. ONE OF THE CANS I TOOK HOME IS A BLACK LABEL STEEL TAB FROM NATICK, MASS., MASS PERMIT #3 ON THE SEAM. THE OTHER SEAM LISTS 7 STATES. WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECKED TO SEE IF IT WAS DIFFERENT THAN MY SHELFER, WHICH IS AN INDOOR CAN I BOUGHT AT A QUEEN CITY SHOW IN CINCY. SAME CAN. HOWEVER I DON'T SEE IT LISTED IN THE USBC II. IT'S LIKE #41-23. IS THIS A TOUGH BREWERY VARIATION LIKE THE FORT WORTH CAN OR JUST A MISSED BREWERY IN THE USBC II? I DON'T BELIEVE IT COULD BE TOO RARE SINCE I HAVE TWO. ARE THERE ANY CARLING COLLECTORS OUT THERE WITH AN ANSWER? THANKS, STEVE

Pokey, That is a good observation, that it is misssing from the book. However it is a really , pretty common can. By the USBC standards , I 'd say a 3.00 can, yet missing............

I think this can is pictured in vol 2 as 106-24. Its the straight steel version of this can without the No Opener Needed like 106-25 that's not pictured. I could be wrong. I've only seen the SS version of 106-25 once and need it for my collection.

PullI realize that these cans will prob not get anyone too excited - but here they are anyway.

Well here are a couple of stacks - that are not in the book - yes they are all 'pull tabs'. All of these alum cans are not in the book (from what I can tell) BUT are in the ABC book. I don't know if they were overlooked or no one cared cause they dent easily. This exercise has been a real time waster; check out the Advertising section for what you can take home w/ you.

It seems like this can was listed, but I guess not.

Lone Star Draft from Oklahoma.

So, is there also a corresponding "OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA" as opposed to "OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA" like there is in the regular Lone Star cans?

The USBC II states that they tried to include all cans marketed before 1980 and straight steel cans marketed up to 1993, thus a lot of 80's aluminum didn't make the book.

Heres an interesting Schaeffer can. Although this can might be too new to have been included in Vol. II. There is a common " Low Alcohol " version listed in the ABC book. However I have never seen this LA version. Just thought I ought to submit it, as it's already been sold, and I am notorious for forgetting to post photos of unlisted cans

I posted about this can in the regular discussion forum, then thought of this thread, so I thouoght I would post it here as well.

I found a 16 oz Busch Bavarian not listed in the USBC II book. It is like one in the book, but this one is brewed/canned at the St. Louis facility. Kind of odd that this was overlooked for the book, but oh well. I think the value is about the same as the one from Calif.

I also came across a can not pictured. This Old Dutch from Champale Products doesnt have the contents bottom front. The one in the book does. The other version w/o the contents is from Century.
