Re: Top 10 Michigan cans
Pfeiffer OD came in the mail today from Dans recent auction.
First OD can I’ve ever had.
EDIT: I tried to add a better picture of front.
My photo skills are poor!
EDIT 2: It looks like this can was in the Ed Ackerman collection. Certainly less expensive back in 2012!

Re: Top 10 Michigan cans
Recent additions to the Michigan collection.
Extremely difficult to get this Fox Deluxe can from Grand Rapids without heavy oxidation/humidity.
This is by far the Best known Example at this point in time.
Also included for fun two bottle caps I just purchased from Tavern Trove from the old Flint Hill brewery in Flint Michigan.
Same brewery location which canned the Heidelburg Conetop.
Viking from around 1935 and Kings Tavern from 1938.

Nice to see the FD is coming to Florida. A little farther north than I wanted though. One of these days I'll have to come visit it.Clarkston1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:18 pm Recent additions to the Michigan collection.

Absolutely - have some craft beers and shoot the breeze with old beer can stories and adventures.Flat_Top wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:34 pmNice to see the FD is coming to Florida. Re: Top 10 Michigan cans
Added a Schmidt’s Natural Brew, has the CCC 52-B caning code.
Still a reasonable tough can I believe.

Re: Top 10 Michigan cans
Might as well update this thread with the latest “Extra Special” addition.
Need to add some of the tough scenic series cans someday.

Re: Top 10 Michigan cans
I picked up this previously unknown, at least to me and the other Michigan specialists I asked, enamel paint Goebel Bantam Ale can. After posting photos on FB a couple of times, a second example has shown itself. It also has the gear marks under the top rim. Thinking it probably came from the same place. Amazing a can fly under the radar for all these years. Still very happy to have it.

Re: Top 10 Michigan cans
That Ale is off the hook! How’s the fishin’ been, Chuck?
I cannot help but wonder what lies beneath…..here’s a couple enamel Bantam Beer’s, not going to rub the nice example that was found in a wall in Southern WI. Bottom right is just white (part of a cutdown 12oz. Black Label? been found here before) as far as I can tell- and bottom left is a Tech. Ziphippie

Re: Top 10 Michigan cans
Great cans. I've looked at my Ale can many times and I can't see any sign that it is a paint over. There is no primer visible along the seam. I've shined a light on it and looked signs of a label under the paint. I don't see anything. Plus why would I rub out a 1 of 2 known cans hoping for a rarer can? It will stay as is as long as I have the can.
