Those "flats" sure do have some pointy tops on them... Feel free to send them to me.   You don't want any of those pesky "coneheads" mussing up your "flats" now do you? They don't stack on top of each other very well either.

Cherrypickermark-- I thought it was a requirement of the board to include some rust in the picture. I'll use my 1+ Dingle next time.

From the looks of your collection I wouldn't be surprised if you had one! Man, that stuff is impressive. Judging by the stuff I see you selling on eBay I figured the stuff you were keeping must be awesome but I see I underestimated. Keep the pictures coming, I could look at those all day.

PS How about a history lesson the Blue & Gold and the Log Cabin? Those are some of the best I've seen.

Most of my cans come from Ebay. I rarely am able to escape to a show now with 3 kids (coaching multiple sports, etc). And I always (or almost always) snipe them at the end. But never budge ahead of everyone else's fair chance to bid by making an offer to a seller. But that's a different thread (or three).

Here are a few more pix

Snatcher,
Do you only buy the best example possible, or will you buy a rusted specimen as a placeholder until something better comes along? How many cans in total do you have?

I try to limit my collection to 100 cans, although I'm a bit over that now. So when I buy one, the plan is that one comes off the shelf (if I had shelves-- should be done remodelling the basement by summer). So an upgrade is good, as it costs me an incremental amount. Buying a new brand is tormenting because I have to part with a can like the ones above.

But that's how I self-regulate.

Oh my god. I desperately hate to see a fellow collector out of control of his collecting strategy! Tell you what....out of the goodness of my heart, I will roll up my sleeves and help you find your way back to that 100 can celing. I wouldn't do this for just anybody, but, how about I take the Feginspan Bock, Kent, Fox Deluxe, the CANCO OI, and that nasty Dingle Bay off your hands. No...no need to thank me.....the least I could do.

Snatcher,
Do you have your own "top 100" cans as a kind of goal? e.g. once you get these 100 cans, theres no need to get any new ones, only look for upgrades?

Well, you present an interesting problem, CPM. What happens when I'm "done". I haven't gone down the path of figuring out what my top 100 would be. And I'd better not do that, or I'll run into the problem you mention. And I'd hate to have to change my ebay name--- to something like "canauctionwatcherbutnotbuyerbecauseIhavemyhundredcansalready".

Just too clumsy, don't you think?

I'm confused. Are you restricting yourself to 100 cans due to finances? So you just don't go crazy and buy 10 cans a month? So you sell a kick *** can, and use the funds to re-purchase a new can. But if you keep doing this in cycles, you wind up not keeping anything for very long. I guess that's cool from a diff't side of the hobby to say "I had this once. It was mine. I touched this can. And the thrill was gone after 30 days so I'm gonna buy another can to re-experience the thrill"

Sounds familiar doesn't it? I think it's what most of us go through... once having attained the impossible can, the thrill is gone, you need another way to get that thrill back. I do it, too.

If finances arent the issue then build some shelves. You have some nice cans, none I'd ever want to part with. Leave them as a legacy to your children or family, don't sell if you don't absolutely have to, my 2 cents anyway.

cpm-- finances aren't the reason for selling. The other half is. She just can't see having more than "a few" cans displayed. So even getting her to agree to 100 took some bargaining.

But the flip side of it is that if I sell some cans, it is that much easier on the finances and I don't feel quite so vulnerable putting more and more $$ into a hobby that is destined to lose its value as we all age. (my opinion, not factual---- yet).

Snatcher,
Destined to lose its value as we all age? No way... as long as some of us are passing our collections onto our children (I plan to), our youth can carry the torches. I see a steady fixed amount of collectors over time, maybe narrowing in focus, but if anything driving up the prices over time.

I feel so sorry for you guys with wives that break your stones over cans... I was lucky enough to have my own home office and I just said to my wife "I'm collecting beer cans again". It does irritate me that she doesn't appreciate them like I do when she walks by - is that grounds for a divorce? hehe

Everyone needs a wife like Bob McCoy's. She TELLS him to BUY cans! "You need to buy that ongrade crowntainer collection" or "You need to buy that on-grade Gunthers Ale full length opener." We aren't talking cheap cans there! Bob, you're a lucky man SIR! :smt023

Bryan2--- as a matter of fact, I do have a pink Blatz. Wait, make that two! One is going to go up for sale soon. Don't know if you want to try to deal, or wait to see it on Ebay.

Yes, the Kato was on Ebay. Don't see too many of the red ones. I sold a second one about two years ago on Ebay, too.

Glad you guys are enjoying the cans. I don't get to share them often enough.
