This phrase originated in the 19th-century circus and theater industries. It was a traditional principle stating that, no matter what went wrong behind the scenes—such as a performer getting injured or an animal escaping—the stage show had to proceed for the waiting audience.


Possible rain on Saturday morning? Who cares? Your car is probably dirty anyway.

Canadian forest fire smoke moving through the area? Who cares? The A/C for the Legion Hall will filter that out.


I have talked to Clayton and we have a plan for everything. Nothing will stop this show from being great. Clayton's truck is already packed up and mine will be packed up tomorrow morning. I hope your vehicle is packed up too.

That time I drove a thousand miles in a day to go buy one can (re my signature), I was on the side of a mountain (smallish East coast type) when one of those insane rainfalls hit. I had to stop in the middle of the road; it was a ceiling of solid water that fell for 5 minutes, coming in through my door gaskets. I continued on and found both the other cars on the mountain had slid into the ditch. It wasn't about the wherewithal, it was about the fortitude!

Just be cool. We're here for the cans, not an occasion to overreact.

Welcome to Frankenmuth. It's a pleasant 79 degrees outside. It's a bit smokey but I think we can probably thank the smoke for the 20 degree drop in temperature from earlier this week. It's quite comfortable now. I could not have said that a day or two ago.

I hope to see a lot of you here when the show officially starts tomorrow.

For anyone who has health issues the smoke could actually be deadly. This is not the usual smoke event, conditions currently are rated as hazardous in Frankenmuth. This smoke contains very small toxic particles that lodge in the lungs and then enter the blood stream. Those with breathing difficulties or heart conditions particularly the elderly are being advised to remain indoors.

The particle size is too small to be filtered out by a normal covid style face mask and requires a respirator to stop particle entry into the lungs.

The first day of the show is done and now it's time to go over to the motel for a shrimp boil. We got lucky today. The smoke was much less today than yesterday.

We have collectors here from all over. For the long distance award, we thought it might be a tie between two Florida collectors but then a collector from Arizona arrived and surpassed them both.

Hourly forecast suggests a possible passing shower from noon to 1:00. Otherwise, we should be dry. Hope to see you here tomorrow.

Plus, breakfast Friday and Saturday, a mid-morning snack Friday and Saturday, and lunch Friday and Saturday. If I ever stop collecting, I'm going to come to the Frankenmuth shows anyway just so I can eat.

Good show everyone! Wednesday last week I was certain I wasn't going to make it because of the forecast and a pretty nasty knee issue keeping me from walking. However Friday morning my plans were a go.
I left a little early due to a nasty looking storm rolling in from the north.

Here's my pick ups from the show! I took it easy and didn't walk around as much so no pictures from me this year

Once again, it was a great time in Frankenmuth. The air and the weather were concerns but turned out not to be as much as we feared. The air improved after Thursday's numbers and we only got an hour of rain on Saturday around lunch time. Time goes fast and before we know it, it will be time to return to Frankenmuth. Unfortunately, multiple people who wanted to stay at the Frankenmuth Motel were unable to do so because it was sold out. Because of this, many people have already made their reservations for 2027. Our goal is to eventually fill the entire motel with our people.

Well, anyway, here are my pictures. I am sorry I did not take more. I rarely sell at shows but I did set up outside this time so that limited my ability to walk around and take pictures.
