Canvention 51 Can

#1

Post by cantankerous »

Called the BCCA office today to buy the can issued for Canvention 51 and was told “Sorry there aren’t any”.
Is this permanent or are more being produced?

@cantankerous
That's not good!

I hope someone that got that can but really doesn't collect CANv cans would be kind enough to let you have theirs.

Ironic. I have 49 of the 50 and decided quite a while ago to stop at 50. If I was still collecting the CANv cans, I'd be pissed about this.

Just in case you weren't aware:

Besides the 12 oz. version of the Canvention can issued by the BCCA, there was also a 16 oz. pre-pro lager can that was issued by Smartmouth Brewing in Norfolk that is nearly identical. There were plenty of these cans and unwrapped stickers of that label floating around at Canvention. I have attached a picture for your reference.

No, I don't have any extras of these, but they shouldn't be hard to find.

I think it's a good idea to post here if someone wants the CANv 51 can. Obviously the BCCA hasn't got any. I won't speculate on whose fault or why that is the case this year.

If a person went to the CANv, they may want to keep the can as a memento of the event. Totally understandable and I respect that.

There will be some however, that may not look at the can that way so maybe that person would be willing to help out a fellow collector who might really want that can for their collection and maybe they can work something together out on this site.

HAS CAN BUT DOESN'T WANT IT + WANTS CAN AND CAN'T GET IT = WIN FOR BOTH PARTIES!

I was unable to attend Canvention this year but would like to acquire one of the standard 12 oz. cans. On my to do list and this thread seems like a good place to throw a line into the water.

I'd be happy to pay something for the can and of course shipping.

Please PM me if you are willing to let one go. Thanks!!!

Ken, I would like one too. Will you be at Romine's show in November?
Always looking for West Virginia breweriana from Fesenmeier and Parkersburg.

Joe, I don't know yet. I'm waiting to see what time the GA vs. UT game kickoff is in Athens. Either way, I can get one to you there.
