Beer Can Fun in California Part 13

#1

Post by Cap-Sealed »

Last weekend was the Pony Express Show 2022/Weekend at Dave's (Chateaudebris) in Pollock Pines, California. Dale & I got there earlier in the week and got in a day of digging. The festivities started Friday night with a pizza party and Saturday morning the show kicked off with an ex-collector bringing 1000 cones & flats to the show! It was a controlled frenzy and everyone came home with new cans. The show was well attended with some people who could only attend on Friday and more came in on Saturday. It was a good mix of collectors. Dave Rusk, the show's host was the cook for our BBQ - with Hamburgers & Hotdogs. It was one of the most relaxing shows I have ever been too, especially with the show being in the cool pines of Dave's backyard and mulitple days.

Looks like it was the perfect show! Thanks for the pictures!
Todays show in Chippewa falls had like a total of three California cans. I was hoping to find another shelfer today
Is that el rancho sign made of tin?

Yes, the El Rancho Beer signs are tin. Someone found a stack of 10-12 of them last year, and someone added neon to theirs:

This 1937 Lucky Lager OI was found in an antique shop on the way to the show. As the story goes, it was found in a 92-year-old woman's hope chest. She put there after a party when she was 16. It was full but most of it evaporated. They bottomed opened it with a nail to get the rest of the beer out.

Sweet can. Great story. But what is more amazing is that you found something at a antique store.
It’s been years since I got anything good at an antique store
Antique stores around here should change their signs to “crap that didn’t sell on eBay”

Thanks, but it wasn't me who found the Lucky, but I came home with it. Sacramento Kevin scored it. I did find the Old Tap tray and I gave it to Dave for hosting the show. I'm like you, I find very little in antique shops and when I do, I usually overpay just to go home with something.

Fun! Looks like I have to go to the source to finally land a Pilsen Brau...
Better to drive 950 miles and kick asz than go a thousand miles and get nothing.
