Why is this the year you should go to SummerSwap in Frankenmuth?

Yes, it's that time of year again. SummerSwap will be held in Frankenmuth on July 22 and 23. Every year, I hear people say they have always wanted to attend this show but for one reason or another, it has not worked out. Why should this be the year you make it to SummerSwap? Every year the Michigan Chapter works hard to put on a first rate show with lots of sellers, lots of walk ins, plenty of food, pop and beer, and so forth. As if that is not enough, this year's show will also feature a visit to Bill Jordan's house so everyone can marvel at his excellent collection while enjoying complementary snacks and drinks while socializing with our pre-show crowd. SummerSwap is officially a two day show (Friday and Saturday) but we usually have around 30 people show up on Thursday for early deals, corn hole, and food on the motel lawn. This year, instead of gathering at the motel, our Thursday evening socializing will take place at Bill's house.

Opportunities like this do not come along every day so I hope to see many of you face to face at Bill's house. Otherwise, you will have to just read about it on this site later. Please see below for a special flyer specifically for the gathering at Bill's house.

I've only been to the Frankenmuth show once. Had a great time, sold some stuff, bought some stuff.

However, with high gas prices this year, I think I need another reason or two to attend. Any pics of Bills cans? Beer cans that is. Come 'on Byran, throw us all a bone with another reason or two.

And, my wife spending all my money in the 365 days a year Christmas shops isn't one of them!! However, maybe that diner with the Fred Flintstone size portions could be one of them. What's that place called again????

I like the new location and the two-day format, but pushing the show forward a week conflicts with my mother's birthday. I might be able to play hooky from work on Friday and run up there, but I probably can't ever do Saturday.

Bob - you must be thinking of Tonys I-75 Restaurant. https://www.tonysi75restaurant.com/

@OhioCanGuy

Bob, if I showed pictures of everything, there would be less reason to show up. This is just a teaser. You need to be here to see the full reveal.

@OhioCanGuy the restaurant you are thinking of is Tonys. Not a place for me. Large portions but very subpar food in my opinion. Maybe I am just a food snob.

You should bring your Mom on Saturday. Seriously. She gets to spend the day with her son and get out of the house. You get to spend the day with your Mom, AND go to a breweriana show.

Tonys, yes that's the place. Only been there once, but I immediately recognized the building in the link. Thanks for posting!

@Nosinut - Well, you are right. They definitely emphasize quantity over quality. However, I challenge anyone to walk out of there hungry, even on a modest budget. My wife ordered the BLT. They advertise a pound of bacon on the sandwich. A full pound of crispy bacon is not a bad thing (unless you ask your arteries of course). I got a Rubin sandwich. Not the best Rubin ever, but it was about the size of a football. Easily three meals worth. I'll tell you what was very good, we ordered some sort of ice cream sunday/banana split type of thing. What came out was a volcano sized mound of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream covered in everything you'd expect (whip cream, hot fudge, etc.). Again, totally ridiculous.

It's quite the experience for sure. Bring your doggy bag, Rover will thank you, :smt023

That's a very nice forecast. Nice and dry. If the hot weather makes people sweat a little as they walk all their great deals out to their car, they can always refresh themselves again by stopping by the bar and getting a free beverage. My wife is even coming this year for the first time.
