Toleware cone on eBay
I’d love to know what the underlying can is and how it turns out. If it went to a Rusty Buncher please let us all know.

Re: Toleware cone on eBay
Based on the seam (5 tooth with 2 dimples) it is most likely a common C & C soda cone.beercanman wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 9:04 pm I’d love to know what the underlying can is and how it turns out. If it went to a Rusty Buncher please let us all know.
There are a few beer cones (like Old Reading, #176-32) that can come with this seam so you never know.....but odds are.....
I was second high bidder and didn't want to go to high because of what it most likely was.
Jim
I shall leave no cone unturned!!

Re: Toleware cone on eBay
Whatever it is will likely be a moneymaker if the paint comes off nicely.
I was in on the bidding but stopped at $25.

The common CC cones in excellent condition are bringing big bucks on the auction sites. Just saying.

It will be arriving tomorrow, I thought I got it for a good price.beercanman wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 9:04 pm I’d love to know what the underlying can is and how it turns out. If it went to a Rusty Buncher please let us all know.
It may be a while before the under label is exposed, I may experiment with a new "top secret" method, then again, maybe not.

Re: Toleware cone on eBay
I did a couple test swabs with acetone and the pear on the front started dissolving almost immediately, the black color also quickly and easily starts dissolving in under a minute. I just need to buy more acetone before the unveiling.
For those who would like to try solving a mystery, about 2 inches to the right of the seam near the center of the can between top and bottom lids there are 2 pin size holes in the paint with a light green metallic showing through.
My first thought was rolling rock however the seam does not match, I could not locate a beer can with that seam that would fit the bill, or a picture of a cone top soda can, not sure if seam designs can vary over time on a given label?

Re: Toleware cone on eBay
I just spotted another pin hole in the paint 2 inches to the right of the seam and an inch above the bottom rim also showing light green metallic paint.
I've concluded based on the location of the green that it can't be a rolling rock, and if it's a soda, it likely is not a real common variety.

Not sure what the green metallic specks were, perhaps pieces of glitter but it is a C&C Super Club Soda :(

Re: Toleware cone on eBay
It is this one except it says premium quality at the bottom, I was unable to locate a photo of it, not sure if that means anything or not. https://conetops.com/conetop/cc-banner-oa-club-soda-2/
It is like this one but 12 oz instead: https://auctions.beercansplus.com/C_C_S ... T6571.aspx

Re: Toleware cone on eBay
I was bidding but discovered I was bidding in Bitcoin. The conversion rate meant I did not have enough equity.

Here is a picture of the can that was underneath the toleware paint. It is currently listed on Ebay.beercanman wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 10:33 pm Whatever it is will likely be a moneymaker if the paint comes off nicely.

I'm doing a bit of a happy dance right now, I've just been informed that the premium quality variation is actually very rare, $800-$1200 on grade with mine estimated to top $600.

Re: Toleware cone on eBay
Overall I'm quite pleased with the results, strangely the person who valued it at $600 + only bid $457.59 and was outbid.......
