Bruck's J-Spout: No Alcohol Statement

#1

Post by kamsquared »

A lot of folks on the RB site may have seen that I have been looking for a donor J-spout for a Bruck's that I came across without the 3.2 alcohol statement. Thanks to several great Rusty Bunch members, I was able to find a donor J with the perfect amount of patina on the spout to match the can that I have.
This is a variation on the Bruck's shown in the original USBC 154-27. This variation is shown in the online USBC supplement as 154-26-8.
The can turned out great thanks to Art LaComb at Arts Beer Cans.

Cone top collectors!! Check your Bruck's and let me know if you have this variation.

Awesome. Came out great!

And no, I do not have that variation. Good Cincy can.

Kurt,

What a great can! I'm so glad that you were able to get such a perfectly matched spout.

For reference here are pics of mine. I got this about 10 years ago I believe at an Ohio summer show.

I have one in about Jim's shape, maybe a touch better on one side.

Dan Morean sold one at auction that looked to be all-original a while back. I had mine shot for the supplement, and it's a rubout. I had a lesser rubout years ago, and a still lesser rubout sold on eBay last year.

I checked through some of my old postings here and found that Neil Kanetzke and Phil Stayman also had dumpers of this variation. Additionally, Steve Rhodes dug a Lockheed and rubbed it out to find this variation underneath.

The Can Dr. recently posted photos of two Brucks Jubilee J-Spouts he rubbed out, but I don't know which variation they are (despite trying to move the discussion in that direction with my reply).

Thanks, Keith. I still don't know what to make of the cream vs. white that led you to post in the first place. Mine is shown below. Dan's wasn't any better, but he got about 17 times what I paid for mine on eBay 5-6 years ago. They were the two best I knew of until you posted yours . . .

Yes, Dan's was the only indoor example I've seen that didn't appear to be a rubout. Mine was rubbed out by the gentlemen who calls himself "Onefineday" here. He's been honing his technique for a long time and he's very good.

@mtracy64 @Can Dr. @Conehead @Jim Romine
FYI, This can was made into a drink cup which is why I needed a new top. Art removed the solder from the seam but you can still kind of see evidence of where it was.

That's my downgrade, along with the Hohenadel Indian Queen Ale and Trenton.
