Well almost 2 yrs , but around March 2020 Boardman posted random group shots of a collection he purchased, and I spied a green Genny Ale and had a FLA tax lid ! Having a BEER FLA lid thought it was cool as I like Genny and FLA so I inquired .. after messages back and for , Covid put everything on hold .. lost track and reached back out to Boardman a few months ago and he was able to dig it out and well after a little USPS fears it arrived ! Thought maybe the train robbers ransacked the train car it was in .. but now have 3 FLA lids, not even aware of the elusive 2 liner came with a FLA lid i chased it hard with some monies that came my ways over summer ..
The Light cream has alum top and glued seem like it’s tab .. the 2 liner has a non tooth seems and BEER in white is normally a fan tab up north and has a tooth seem ( I’m gettin caught up into seems and dates and such lately ) - so when did FLA require Tax Stamps ? How long did Genny ship cans south and why the randomness of make of cans ?? again big thanks to Boardman and his bud Pokey
Now there’s a regular Famous 12 Horse flat out there with FLA LIDS to chase …

Sweet lids!
yeah, the train robbers stories/pictures are scary - as huge as those piles are, there might be a good beer can or two out there.

I'll need to get back to my cans and provide more images of the Florida stamps on my Genesee cans.kb wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:11 pm - so when did FLA require Tax Stamps ? How long did Genny ship cans south and why the randomness of make of cans ?? again big thanks to Boardman and his bud Pokey

Florida required the stamp o top of out of state as well as in state brewed cans as soon as cans started showing up.....
The stamp went as long as the mid-70s being included on the bottom of many cans (my full details on what breweries and cans had stamps will be another project when I finally get to my cans).
That being said....Genesee, both beer and ale was sold in Miami in 1935 based on this article from Nov 1935. Might even be a 12 Horse O/I with a Florida stamp somewhere....

@kb This (USBC I 68-34) is the oldest one I have marked in my book with a Florida stamp. I'll have to reassess when I have access to my collection again.
I dug a gold Budweiser OI with a Florida stamp so I know it was used that early.
