The brand Staedrler (CA): Mars Dry Cleaning Pad. Like a rosin bag once found on a pitchers mound, it releases a powder. In some cases it absorbs dirt and scum marks on paper products. Many factors determine whether the soft pad will or will not perform. Being hit and miss my primary use in cleaning up corner mount marks on older (pre-1920) postcards.

Re: Cleaning cardboard..
Conservationist often use alcohol and blotter paper to suck the alcohol back up with all the dirt it has grabbed. I have tried it a few times on labels and the key was to not get too much alcohol on it prior to blotting. Not sure how well it will work if the cardboard has a wax coating on it though
