Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
Recently had the good fortune to go dumping with Dave in NH. Very nice getting to know him better; he was a super fun guy to hang around with! I’ll tell you what, after a while of exploring, digging, exploring, digging,… I was exhausted and Dave was still zipping around; so energetic and enthusiastic about the hunt. Great guy who will be tremendously missed! Got choked up this morning when I was informed of this terrible tragedy. Dave was way too young to pass! God bless Dave’s soul and his family. Will miss you buddy!

I'm stunned. Dave was a great man, and has left a hole in the hobby that will be tough to fill.
My condolences to his family. I really admired the guy.

The very last deal I made on the trade floor Saturday afternoon at CANvention 50.2 was striking a deal with Dave on my Propeller can From Seattle Brewing and Malting. Scott, I think you were with him when we made the deal.

Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
I was also shocked to hear of Dave's passing. As many have said, we just had a blast drooling over his magnificent collection in his barn. Probably the largest quart collection I have ever seen. The irony is we were just talking about Martin Landey's estate and Dave said "I told my family that I love my cans, but I provided them people to contact if anything ever happens". That conversation is now burned in my memory. He was a great, positive guy and seemed in excellent shape. Never in a million years did I expect to hear this! He was also super friendly and humble. A perfect ambassador for our hobby. A very big loss for all. :(

Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
I am terribly shocked and saddened by Dave's passing. While I only saw him in person at Canvention the last several years, Dave was the kind of person who made it seem like it had been just yesterday you were together and he greeted everyone as if they were his best friend. While this is a huge loss for our chapter and the hobby, it is a tragic loss for Dave's family and everyone who knew him. My sincerest condolences, thoughts and prayers to Dave's family and all of us that he called friends.

I didn't know Dave personally but I think the memories that have been spilled out here says a lot about the man.

I was shocked and sadden by this. I don't know Dave very well until I meet him at 50v2 Canvention in St. Louis. He was funny and humble guy and very knowledge about breweriana stuff. He surely going to be miss especially the Rusty Bunch group. My prayer and condolences to Dave family and friends.

Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
I just got back from visiting family on Cape Cod and am sitting at my laptop to catch up and I read this.
I am totally stunned by this terrible news.
Only two weeks ago I was at his house for the Pickwick show, saw his collection, spent time with him, a perfect host.
I could go on and on, dumped cans with him and Steve Puff.
My sincere condolences to his wife, family and friends. -Billy Devine

Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
I didn't know Dave as well as many people here did, but we had met several years ago at Canvention, and we had some good conversations over the years at Canvention when we crossed paths. Dave was definitely one of the truly nicest people that I have met in my many years as a can collector. I consider it a privilege to have met him.
I had just seen Dave recently in St. Louis, and we had a long conversation- I watch a lot of urban exploration on YouTube, and one of the explorers who I follow ("Exploring with Josh"), who is based somewhere in the New England area) had recently explored a house out in the woods in Maine. What caught my attention was that this house was on a road that was called "Beer Can Alley." I had saved this information until St. Louis because I knew that Dave dumped in Maine, and maybe he had heard of this place. I wanted to give him first dibs on it if he hadn't. Turned out that he had not heard of that road, but he agreed that the name was pretty interesting and of course, no telling what vintage of cans might be there (for what it's worth, the abandoned house at the end of the road was built in the 80's). He was genuinely appreciative for the tip and he promised to let me know what turned up there.
If anyone ever does dump this place, I am curious as to what vintage of cans are near "Beer Can Alley." Any of you that want to watch the video, look under Exploring with Josh for the "Alien House." House is sadly trashed, but it has some interesting architecture, and you do see some of the road.
My prayers are with Dave's family.

Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
There is a thread revived in the Dumping Trips & Stories section titled "Back Into Dumping After 33 Years" that Dave wrote 10 years ago, and may have been his first post? 2 of the replies to it were from "Puffdaddy" Steve Puff and "Mybrotha" Mike Tsolinas" who are both no longer with us as well. R.I.P. Dave, Steve, and Mike.

I'm completely stunned. I usually only saw Dave once or twice a year but he always remembered my name and treated me like he would a friend he sees all the time. An absolute wonderful person who will be greatly missed.

Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
I was in the process of getting some things together and working on trying to get him hooked up with Mark Radzyminski and some of the dumps we had dug in VT back in the 80's. Was able to get him steered in the direction of a few dumps we had found in NH way back then. He was nice enough to send me 2 Esslinger Qt's and a Topper QT I wanted as I am building a shelf in the bar for cans that are "Back from the good old days". Had not texted him in the past month. Was about too and see what his fall trips had turned up. I was "digging" vicariously through him the last 6-7 years as I relived the 80's New England trips in memory. Just saw this and deeply saddened. What a great guy.

Re: I’m devastated to announce our President, DAVE REID passed away.
It's hard to form words that will do anything but remember Dave fondly.
I told my wife "If I showed you a Rogues Gallery of 100 collectors,Dave would be in the top 5 of guys you'd picture keeling over any time soon"
Full of enthusiasm, knowledge, generosity, happiness....just a solid guy in our hobby. He handed me a random package at Canvention, which was
a personalized Yeti can cooler with my RB name on it. It holds even more significance now.
One of the good ones for sure. You will be missed,Dave.
