Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away
This is a first heard for me. I got the notice via Paula Fatura in the BCCA notice.
He supposedly passed away on July 23 and he was logged onto the RB forum on July 22.
This is really sad news.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
Ive known Scott when him , his brother Mark,Mike Muprhy , and TA all came down to Albuquerque from CO Springs for the 1st Roadrunner show in 1985....36 years......and hes never missed a Roadrunner show......hes been a great friend / digging buddy ever since....we've met through the Rusty Bunch
Safe to say that him and Murphy and their crew dug more cans in Colorado than anyone and I doubt ever (their garages are full to prove it !)......I'm sure glad that him and Mike dug their Holy Grail , Silver State cones, a few years ago......He's been taken way too soon (non-covid) ...
.miss you man.........RIP Rusty Brother

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
I heard about this a few days ago and it came as a great shock. I met Scott and also Mike at the Denver Canvention in 2007. We sat in the outdoor bar area along the street with a few others and had a very enjoyable afternoon. Since then it's always been a pleasure to talk with him whenever our paths crossed. Scott was another of the great guys in the hobby just like Mike. It's hard to believe both are gone. RIP my friend and leave a few cans for the rest of us in that big heavenly dump. I'll raise one to you in St. Louis.
The luckiest dumpers don't rely on good fortune, the unluckiest do.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
He sent me a Pikes Peak Malt Lager because he knew that's what I collected. Wouldn't take any $$ for it.
A good man, as evidenced by the heartfelt comments here. Too soon, too soon.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
So sad and so sudden. Scott and I talked numerous times via email and PM about can de-denting. He taught me a lot and I really appreciated his help and kindness. Godspeed Scott!
Thanks. Dave

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
Sorry to hear this news, Scott was a great person, he is the reason I became so interested in the Continental Can Company. We talked about the small list of CCC cans on this site and I started expanding the list. Scott provided a lot of information and always sat with me and talked through the history I had found about CCC when we met at Canventions and Vegas shows. RIP Scott.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
Shocked and saddened to see this. I never met Scott but talked to him on the phone numerous times in great length about all kinds of things related to the hobby. He was the kind of person you could talk to forever about anything or nothing and always felt better for knowing someone like him. Seems like just yesterday I was going to get his plaque made for Lucky dumper of the year. Prayers to his family and friends.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Although I never personally met him, I’ve corresponded with Scott a number of times. He always responded with an enthusiasm that made you feel like you lived next door and knew him all your life. I will definitely miss that !
Most of our communications were about paintover cans. I was amazed at how well he cleaned his cans up ! For me the gold standard to strive for.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
This is sad news. When I lived in El Paso and attended the Roadrunner shows, I always wound up trading with Scott. Most of the Utah cans on my shelf came from him. Is it just me or does it seem as though we have lost many members in the last two to three years. Even with the COVID-19 business, the ones I know of passed away due to non-Covid circumstances. Best wishes to his family.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away?
Yeah, this sucks. I could always call up Scott and talk for an hour or so about anything. Our last conversation was about our cats. I first met Scott back in 1983 or 84 when we had our first Roadrunner Show in ABQ. Three cowboys from Colorado showed up at my door the night before the show. We traded cans all day long at the show and were buddies ever since. Scott has also put of few rare Chicago cans on my shelf like a 12oz English Lad cone and a weird variation of a Lubeck OI. This one hurts the most. It was so sudden and unexpected... We are losing the core of our hobby way too fast....

Met Scott and Mike Murphy years ago at a Spokane show, and when I went out to a Denver
show the next year, they really looked out for me.
I suppose now thousands of Lucky flats with Scott's birthday will show up.

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away
Scott Rollert had an unbridled enthusiasm for beer can collecting, an unbridled enthusiasm for life. He met you where you were. Look at cans you have on your shelves that came from Scott. Look at the "Composite Lists" on this forum: there is a reason the Colorado list has more action than any other. Collecting beer cans, helping others, being a good friend, loving others unconditionally was/is Scott. I've been away from collecting for awhile and have been selling off recently, but I'm not leaving the hobby because there are too many memories in these cans: I'll be keeping Scott's.
I met him in '84 in Central City. I was a kid. He and Dennis (help with the last name) treated me like I was important. He did well for us. That is what I'll remember.
Thank you Scott. You are loved.

A shout out all Rusty Bunchers-
I would like to thank everyone for your posts and messages you all sent about my bothers passing. Scott passed 7/23 peacefully in his sleep, probably dreaming of his next " Big Colorado can find". So the next time everyone is "Having a cold one" a toast to Scott would be apricated, that is what he would want us all to do!
"Rest in peace" Bro, we will miss you!

Re: Scott Rollert RB #126 Passed Away
I just wanted to share the new favorite piece in my collection.
Scott was actually who got me interested in Bowling themed breweriana. My collecting focus had always been laser aimed towards cone tops. Then one day Scott happened to post a picture of his wall of bowling related signs. Being a life long bowler/proprietor/coach I instantly loved it. Mark remembered that I had a shared bowling interest and contacted me to see if I would be interested in some of Scott's items. There are a couple more of Scott's items that also now reside in my collection, but this one is by far my most treasured. Sad that I came to have it this way, but it will be treasured all the more because of it. Thanks Mark.
R.I.P. Scott.
