Jeff Lebo and CanSmart auctions

#1

Post by Nobes1010 »

Does anyone here know this guy? Not trying to besmirch him, but I paid him for a can via paypal on June 4th and haven't heard a word from him since, despite me trying every avenue listed on his website. I mean, it's only $30 but it still infuriates me to be ripped off. Just don't understand why he won't answer my emails or texts. Anyway, I'm asking if anyone knows him because maybe there's something major going on in his life and that's why. If so, I'd back off, obviously. But until I find out why he's dogging me, I'm gonna be on him. Just want my can that I won in his auction.

Sorry for venting.

Many of us here know Jeff. He's a good guy with no history of this type of issue that I've ever heard about.

Okay, that's what I figured. I wonder what's up then? Very strange.

Recently I viewed this item on ebay and the seller of the item claims he also didn't receive any replies to his emails to CansMart.

I saw something from Eric about abruptly having to change the auction service. He was able to get all the auction data, but has to do everything else manually. He was asking for understanding to get through this. Hopefully Eric will see and can clarify.

CanSmart and Tavern Trove are totally different businesses and unrelated. There was a major software/cloud issue that shut down several of the auction sites like CanSmart. I think Jeff will make things right, given time and information to do so.

Jeff’s a good guy and not like him to not respond. I do know he has a place in Puerto Rico and he’s there until early August. Not sure why he hasn’t replied to you though.
Thanks. Dave

Okay cool. I trust. I'll just be more patient. If I don't hear from him or get my can by October though!! LOL!

Ditto what the others have said. Jeff is definitely one of the good guys (no pun intended to The Good Guys!), he is always good about responding to messages, and has been great with me and my bids in his auctions. I suspect some sort of glitch related to his auction software. Try contacting him directly by email or phone or a means different than you've been trying, and I'm completely confident he will make this right for you.

Thanks, appreciate the input. For the record though, I have tried nearly every method available to reach him. Email, the "contact us" form on hi site, and texted his cell phone. I guess the only method left is snail mail.

Scott,
Jeff is definitely in Costa Rica at this time. He won a can in our June auction and asked that we do not send it until 8/8 or later. Jeff is a great guy and is usually responsive, but can be hard to reach when he is out of the country.

I am not trying to make excuses for Jeff and understand the perception is not good, but I am sure that he will make it right with you.

Jeff Lebo, Bill Beverly and Steve Gordon were the first Rusty Bunch members I had the pleasure to meet in person. It would be a challenge to figure out which of them was the nicer guy, though Jeff for at least a few moments edged the others out just a smidgen, as he kept trying to give cans to me that he had for sale, just because.

It's amazing if you consider, the quality of people you find that spend hours of their lives digging through dumps, trash piles, drained swamps and lake beds and most prominently, old privies.

I am having similar issue as OP, no big deal I have dealt with Jeff before and always no problems but here, cannot reach him have sent email to 3 different addresses + FM message and no response, hoping someone here is his BBF and can ask him please to check his emails and FB message (we aren't friends so he'll have to manually check). thanks in advance.

I have been having issues communicating with Erik at Tavern Trove as well, his emails just do not get through to me even after we realized it and he sent some test emails. You have to stay on top of your IT these days, especially if you are sending out mass marketing emails. Ransomware and other hacks have changed things in the last few years, probems don't fix themselves anymore. What I am saying is I don't think it has anything to do with Jeff or Erik not being responsive, they are just struggling with the auction sites and since they have so many more low dollar items it is probably impossible to straighten out in a timely matter once the damage is done.

His site is a mess. Keeps telling me my password is wrong (I know it's not) and then when I click "forgot my password" it says it's going to send me an email and it never does. Guess I won't be bidding in his auctions.

Is it a browser thing? I'm using Chrome. Kinda hate sites that only work on certain browsers, but it's a reality. The strange thing is the site used to work just fine for me.

Could he have blocked me for thinking I besmirched him on here? lol. I dunno. The site still doesn't work for me.

I usually use Fire Fox. But just tried it with Chrome and Microsoft Edge and all three work fine for me. Here is the link that works for me.

I was able to sign in fine on my phone. With web, the password reset is not working. I also don't get email invoices when I win auctions which I am not sure if that is expected behavior and yes I check junk mail.

Sometimes over the years, people change. Sometimes it is for the better, other times for the worse. I'm not suggesting that this has happened with Jeff, however I would need to hear multiple positive reports of timely email replies by Jeff as well as a satisfactory explanation for the lack thereof previously before I would place a bid on any of his auctions.
