Would you relid these?

I won these on ebay, mostly because I needed the Collie but also because they were all in good shape and looked pretty cool. There are so many relidded Schmidt cans out there seems like maybe preserving some of mugs may be the way to go.

Certainly some beautiful, humidity free, metallic on those!

I'd keep them as is. Keep them as a piece of history, as they have been, for what, probably 50-60 years now?

Flats, cones & early tabs. Ohio cans, ultra clean cans & shine. East coast cans. Rare rust. And, whatever else catches my eye.

I think that is where I am at although I am going to be tempted to send the Collie to Art, I have been looking for that for awhile. But then I will probably find an all original example eventually and would regret ruining the mug. Like you say, it was meant to be a mug and is a piece of history.

I would leave it as a mug. I prefer all original cans. Even if I needed a Collie badly, I would always look at it funny because I knew it has once been a mug. Be patient. The joy comes in the hunt.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.
