Acme Withdrawn free rebuild.
I recently took on a project that I wanted to share with the group. Andrew (zoinkss) found an Acme withdrawn free rolled can in a collection that was about a half inch short and no lids. He found out that Don (specks) didn't have this can, so he asked me if I had any Ideas. A few years ago i found out a 16 oz Coors aluminum slides perfectly inside an unlidded can. I thought that this would make an ideal sleeve to repair a can and now had a chance to try it. A second Acme can, a bit of lathe work and a correct looking donor lid was all it took. Steve

That's quite a rebuild! Looks like it came out great ... super rare can that will sit on a shelf and no one will be able to tell what its parents are.

That's really slick. Does anyone have one of those Fort Pitt Ales of Lebo's that Art made whole again? Just wondering if he did all his patches with soldered metal. I love killing a donor can!

Re: Acme Withdrawn free rebuild.
Unbelievable- this Frankencan has had an interesting tale of becoming an upright shelfer. Started out as a sign that someone chopped down (possibly rubbed out the backside of the sign to reveal WF Acme’s) and made it into a very short Acme bank. Zoinkss removed the lids to reveal the lettering on the inside of the bank. Then, it was transported to the evil Dr. Urners’ laboratory where he stitched it together with donor pieces and parts stolen from the grave- “it’s alive!......It’s Alive!!!” Ziphippie

Re: Acme Withdrawn free rebuild.
Don was extremely happy with this can! Steve also finished the Fredricks cone for don. Don filled in the rust hole and Steve put the lid on over the rusted out lips. About 2 inches of the top was completely rusted off.
This was also an amazing job between two great can repairers!
