Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
Great can! I'm curious if it has an Alabama tax stamp. I'm pretty sure a couple of the better examples have been found here.

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
Good question. The best known example that is pictured in the USBC book was found in Iowa at a antique store for like 7 bucks back in the late 1970's. The 2nd one I am not sure of the history.
I really hope this is number 3 and what a great score

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
There was a find of an indoor Autocrat in New Orleans a year or so ago, which would be the third. If this is a new find it would be the fourth.

Does it have the Manhattan Mandatory added on or does it just say Consolidated Companies?

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
Tom, just says Consolidated Companies. It is my understanding that there are 3 of these and 1 example of a variation. The variation and the best one of the 3 are close in condition. Mine is the 2nd best and there is a worse condition one in a south western collection. Hopefully, that collector posts a picture of his. It is NOT a new find. It would be great to get provenance on all of them.Tom Hoefer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 1:04 pm There was a find of an indoor Autocrat in New Orleans a year or so ago, which would be the third. Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
Neither of the cans pictured above are the examples shown in USBC-OI, so there are at least four now. Question is, is Mike's can the one that nobody knew about until it hit eBay a number of years ago? I don't recall that can being in such good condition, so I'm leaning towards five known. Either way, great score!

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
Can’t remember where this picture came from but I think a Arizona collector originally found this can some years ago.

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
Lilek 58 and the Dan Villers can appear to be the same can along with Lilek 57, the recent Beercansplus find and the example to start this thread makes four?

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
CLARKSTON, Thanks for the help here. If the Dan Villers can turns out to be the south western collectors can, then your estimate is correct. I don't have access to my books so I can't look at the can Marc Tracy is talking about in USBC. Is it a 5th example ??? What do you think ??Clarkston1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 9:40 pm Lilek 58 and the Dan Villers can appear to be the same can along with Lilek 57, the recent Beercansplus find and the example to start this thread makes four?

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
- So 4 examples known.
- The 2 book cans, Beercansplus example, and then it appears Illinicans example is Dan S Old can?
- From the BCCA top 25 cans survey there were only 3 examples known at that time so this would make sense.
Edit-
The USBC examples and the Lilek cans are the same cans.

Re: SCORED A CHICAGO HOLY GRAIL !!!
OK, closing the loop on this one, I agree that it looks like we know of four.
The "eBay dumper" I referred to above is in fact the can shown at the top of this thread and in the photo "of unknown origin". The can is pictured on the Good Guys website. Comments on this board were universally in the "Wow, that looks way better than the eBay photos did" vein after the photo was posted. I had it my head that it sold for about $1,300 on eBay, a couple of others recall it as $1,200. This was the 3rd example to become widely known in the hobby, though it was apparently found some years earlier in Minnesota.
https://www.beercansplus.com/products/h ... r-reliever
In my earlier post I referred to "USBC-OI", aka the Likek book, not "USBC". Lilek 57 is the can CMD acquired at Blue/Grey in the late 1990's, which looks better in person. I assume his brother still has the can. Lilek 58 is the Villers can that the Lewandowski twins won off eBay in the late 1990's and which subsequently moved a couple hours north.

Marc, thank you . This is what I thought but apparently didn't explain it properly. The only remaining question is that below one of these pictures is a paragraph that suggests that there are 3 variations. Anything to that ?? I appreciate everyone's help on this.mtracy64 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 6:08 pm OK, closing the loop on this one, I agree that it looks like we know of four.
