Re: Canning Company Logos
There is Heekin which is on some Carling Black Label from Frankenmuth:
.
.
There is Canco which is on some Goebel from Detroit
.
.
and I believe at least Kegs Cans on some west coast flats. Page 18 of USBC II also has some other codes.

Re: Canning Company Logos
I believe Unknown number 02 is American National from this trademark registration from Nevada. Interestingly, It also notes here that they have zero trademarks still active and the last one filed was in 1999....Unknown number 02.
https://trademarks.corporationwiki.com/ ... 141336226/
This link shows that Rexam and American National are basically the same company as well in their filings and shows the progression of American National trademarks.
https://www.corporationwiki.com/p/2c5bq ... an-company
I believe also that unknown number 05 is Kaiser Aluminum.
Cool site...I will have to do some more looking around at other can companies on it and it might answer some of my can company timeline questions.

Why drive 12 hour one way to dig Pre-Tax Tru Blu ales, Genny 12 Horse Longopeners, Gamecock Ales, Apollos, Neuweilers Bock, and Krueger’s Baldies when you can locally drive 10 hours round trip and dig Pfeiffer, Goebel, Drewrys and Strohs?

Re: Canning Company Logos
I believe that unknown No. 3 is actually a labor union logo rather than a can co. logo. It's too small for me to tell whether it is the union representing the brewery workers or, the can manufacturing company's employee's union. Iron City cans quite often had a "union bug" along with a can manufacturer logo on them

Re: Canning Company Logos
Sorry for not responding sooner. (I’m cutting back on time spent on the computer.)
I appreciate the assistance and inputs. The image in the first post has been updated accordingly. The original image was based just on cans in my collection. That will no longer be the case given the additional suggestions that have been posted and images added.
Regarding the Unkowns…
#01 – This is a Bulldog Malt Liquor. The symbol is a letter “c” on top of a letter ”u”. Maybe a west coaster might recognize it and chime in.
#02 – Was ID’d as American-National.
#03 +#04 – These are both newer Iron City cans if that helps. ( @Ted Wolfe - I agree that could be a Union Logo )
#05 – If Eric can be certain, then I’ll identify it as a Kaiser logo.
The logos are easier to see without the cans so I originally tried to collect “can-less” logos but was only able to track these (image below) down. That's only 10 out of the 34 in the image in the first post. If anyone has any that I can add, please post them here.
Thanks again…

Re: Canning Company Logos
JEFFCO Metal Container was located in Jefferson County Colorado, which locals refer to as "Jeffco". I believe it was later purchased by Ball container when Coors started making their own cans.

@Longopener
Chris, thanks for that addition. I don't have any of those cans. Never knew that logo existed. Anybody have a clue as to what it might stand for?

Re: Canning Company Logos
I did some pretty extensive trademark searches on TESS (Trademark Electronic Search System on the government patent and trademark site) and some state trademark sites but found nothing to support that the K on unknown 05 is Kaiser aluminum. It is one of those things for some reason I have just "always known" and it makes since, considering the mark was only on Olympia cans and that Kaiser Aluminums main aluminum production facilities were all based in the PacNW, due to the cheap electricity from the Bonneville Power Administration that is required to smelt the aluminum Bauxite.
I will keep looking into can company trademarks....it is actually helping me date some cans. Post any info when I get it.

Pacific Can logo for their early soda cans. This one from a Handi Can.

Re: Canning Company Logos
You omitted the Olympia "K" can logo pictured earlier that may or may not be for Kaiser from your latest pic of known and unknowns....just an FYI.

Re: Canning Company Logos
My preference is to keep adding to existing post, since I see posts ordered newest to oldest. I only need to click, read up to where I left off, and stop. No need to scroll through pages and pages to get to the newest. Similar I have preference to not see some 1/2 page long signatures again and again, so I hide those.
Here are my RB display preferences. Click on your name, User Control Panel, and there are a number of useful options:

Re: Canning Company Logos
Great Job!
Here's the Continental logo found on the Canadian Carling Red cap FT... it is also on the Dow and the domestic O'Keefe's Extra Old Stock FT cans.
This logo is found on the two CT's from Nova Scotia, Stags Head and Olands.
This logo is on a few of the Canadian cones, Dow, Black Horse (Green can) Kingsbeer, Moosehead (Brown & Cream), both of the Carling's
and both of the Frontenac's.
The logo that you have posted from the Formosa Keg is quite a mystery, I thought I had a lead on it but all it did was create more questions,
There are two different canning companies for the Formosa Keg, the one you have posted and this one,
I tried to research this company but found nothing. There is a street named Stoffel and it is in Rexdale in an industrial area.
STAY SAFE!

Re: Canning Company Logos
Ed,
I have a number of early logos to add - enough that I'll do separate posts for each can company. I'll start with Crown Can Co. I've left the photos at the full width, or in one case full height, of the can to illustrate the size of the logos. I'll put them in sequential order. All are pre-war.
The earliest Crown Can Co. cans carried no logo - these include Schultz Ale and Beer, several Monarch Brewing Co. cans and all of the flat bottom J-Spouts except Ebling's Ale (possibly Golden Armor also - the early logos are tiny and I haven't had the good example in hand). Unlike the other can companies, Crown Can Co. did not update the logos on subsequent iterations of a given label.
- I believe this is the earliest Crown Can Co. logo, and it is seen only on the 8 oz. Fox Deluxe cans
- The next version adds "-1-37". I used a tall Ambrosia because it's a little larger on that can than most. I also show a Chief Pilsener, not mine, because it's really the only can that shows this particular marking at decent size and with clarity. This is also seen on the Brownie flat top and Ebling's Ale and Old Topper Snappy Ale J-Spouts, but it's so small it's easily mistaken for a scratch on those cans. It's so small I couldn't get a clear photo from the J-Spouts.
- Next is the Crown logo printed on the seam. I used a Cremo Ale J-Spout (158-17). The location, orientation and size is always the same. It's usually printed in black, but in a couple of instances one of the colors from the can was used. This is also seen on several other J-Spouts, Finer Flaver instructional cans by Monarch Brewing Co. and cans by Roger Williams Brewing Co. It's often difficult to discern, even on indoor cans
- Next is one you have listed as CROWN03 already. Most of the J-Spouts carry this logo, usually at the size you've shown and usually in black. However, both Kamm's J-Spouts show it in red (I don't recall which one I shot), the Trenton has it larger, and the Grossvater and a few others have it smaller. It is possible that size has to do with age - the Trenton is early and the 10 oz. Tru Blus have the smaller logo and are very late J-Spouts, but I'm not certain because it's very difficult to date most of the early Crown cans
- Brucks and Brucks Jubilee have this logo, which is smooth across the top. This is 154-26

Re: Canning Company Logos
A few pre-war Continental Can Co. things, again sequential.
- Seen on all of the Old Dutch instructionals, this is Ale 125-08
- Seen on Falstaff 62-06, partially obscured by a scratch
- Same as your CONTINENTAL01 except for the 'C' added here. Old Milwaukee 107-21 (also seen on 20 and 22)
