Damn! Can't wait to see if he gets anything for thatmtracy64 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 9:47 pmYeah, he'd be lucky to get someone to bid a bid a penny at auction with the $18.41 shipping charge. We see a fair number of crazy Buy It Now prices since eBay eliminated their insertion fees, which were a small percentage of the price previously. They offer me 50 free listings per month, and I assume big sellers get more than that.Nobes1010 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 9:34 pm I mean, I know I'm new to this hobby (or new again) but this seems insane to me!

A serious bath in oxalic acid, couple of new lids, some bondo and spray paint and that Rheingold will be good as new.

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)
I'm not particularly knowledgeable on Paul Bunyan cans, but there are many different variations and many of us collect minor variations - either in general or on certain cans. Real nice outdoor Paul Bunyans are pretty common in general - it was a popular brand, it hadn't been obsolete too long when people started digging for cans, and it's got heavy enamel paint. It's a popular can with collectors, though. We saw a spike in price on minty Paul Bunyans years ago - below is link to a discussion with great information on the variations and the price jumps.

Another Old Tankard Ale tops $2K, this one was particularly nice though. Honestly when it was at $1850 before snipe time I thought it might crack $3K with a couple of have to have it bids but for now they are still stopping a little over 2.

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)
The Eigenbrot's is an amazing can, and this is about as good a buy as anyone is likely to get on one. We still don't know how many were found, but there was a good-sized find about 20 years ago. The first one to hit eBay was back around 2000 or so and caused quite a ruckus in the hobby by selling for $7,100. The seller sold them slowly over many years, and I'm not sure if he's run out of them yet.Roy Rogers wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 12:10 pm I thought this was a fair deal for all involved. Nice Can.

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)
This Old Bohemian Lager was on eBay for a very long time, offered at "$3,675 or Best Offer" by a seller who believed (or wanted to believe) it was one of the five quality examples cited by USBC-OI. I put it on my watch list, figuring he'd eventually drop the price down to around $1,000, at which point it would be worth making an offer on. I searched through the many pictures I took of the Lewandowski collection years ago because of a can which came up in another discussion, and I noticed this was their can. They sold it for $500 in 2001.
I learned about the search tool which reveals 'best offer' prices ( https://130point.com/sales/ ) from a website for comic collectors. The search algorithm is very clunky and it often takes multiple attempts at the search string to find what you're looking for. I thought this one would be easier than most most because "Bohemian" was misspelled as "Bohmian" in the title, but the damn thing wouldn't find it until I used the correct spelling . . .

Schmidt Mallards Zip $557.57. I think this is the first time I have seen a gold trimmed Mallard available since I started collection them. Came up short, really wasn't sure how much to bid.

Unlisted 7 ounces Ace Hi sold for $174.33
Notice the more rectangular box for “Malt Liquor”
and the little “ clubs-like “ emblem is red not gold ,
Basically 239-6 ... but 7 ounces instead of 8

Another can a lot of people wouldn’t consider a variation but I have never seen a white stag flat top that did not have a red trademark R - I came up short on the bidding - very minor variation but clearly intentional - Gold R instead of a red R - seller says it’s a cone top but it is not

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)
Five months late, but . . .
A decent number of the Red Top have come up the past few years, but I like the condition/price on this one. I've been continually surprised at auction results for faded and re-lidded examples, even knowing the can is in demand. I still need one . . .
The Krueger Ales and Beers of that era really jumped in price even before the current insanity hit the marketplace, more so the Beers because they're tougher. Krueger is cleary in demand, especially the cans with the big K-man.

Re: DISCUSS EBAY RESULTS HERE (post auctions in reference section)
I have both of these from when they were both current. Would the underbidder like to offer me, say, $250 for either of them??
Funny thing about this auction is there are seven distinct bidders on this can--and the opening bid is higher than I would have expected the closing bid to be!
