Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I've been thinking for a while that I should try to get the first Goebel OI, just because I like it and I'm from Michigan. Then this guy landed in my inbox, and I thought "Yeah, and one of those too . . .". I guess I need a kick in the head once in a while!

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I have not bought many cans this year but I did get both of these over the last couple weeks. The Menominee was originally dumped by John McGuire and later spent time in the collection of @Upsidedown. The Frankenmuth is from the recent Crap Corner auction the Good Guys had.
Hopefully, I will make up for my lack of activity this year at Frankenmuth's SummerSwap show later this month.

Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.
2023 Shows Attended
* Michigan Chapter Winterfest, January 14, Frankenmuth Michigan
* Cabin Fever Reliever, February 24, Mishawaka Indiana
* Buckeye, March 11, Toledo Ohio

The Burger is great either way, but especially as an FBIR. I thought Dan's and this one would go higher.Summitcan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:38 pm Upside down Menominee is great ,

Yes, the Fox Deluxe is Lilek 304, the metallic gold version that jumps off the shelf at you. Six lidless cans turned up decades ago, and they were the only good ones anybody in Michigan knew about until Dan auctioned an all-original can a few auctions back. This one hasn't been relidded and the gear marks aren't as bad as some.

Wow! Lots of nice cans in that collection. Like the Burger but those Hamm's are some of my favorites.Summitcan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:38 pm Upside down Menominee is great ,

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Purchased off buy it now on eBay, and probably overpaid. This can was given to the seller’s grandmother for Christmas 1936, and unfortunately the shade is long gone. Love the story and the can

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
A friend of mine acquired some bottles when picking up a collection. He didn't want them, so he offered them to me. They're all Kansas City brewers.
I assume that these are all pre-prohibition
L: Imperial Brewing Co / Kansas City Mo (on back)
M: Ferd Heim Brewing Co Kansas City Mo
R: Muehlebach
Good thing the Ferd Heim bottle was given to me since it's not to be sold or traded!
Hard to see, but this Muehlebach has a bluish tint. It could be a prohibition pop bottle, but the ones I saw had a thicker neck. I didn't find this exact bottle online.
L-R
1. Muehlebach's Pilsener Beer - 4% - IRTP - Embossed with "Genuine Muehlebach"
2. Muehlebach's Pilsener Beer - IRTP - Missing part of the neck label, but I can read "Defens" and "Savi". Maybe a War Bonds statement?
3. Muehlebach's Pilsener Beer - 3.2% - IRTP
4. Muehlebach Beer
5. missing the labels, embossed with "Genuine Muehlebach"
And this was in there too. Ringo Barrel-Aged Stingo. Poor Ringo

A mish mash of cans I've picked up over the last 30-40 days or so. All fill a hole here or there in my collection. No $5k+ cans in here, but happy to have each and every one of them.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
Actually arrived today - but it's still Wednesday somewhere!
I've learned more about the seller since I picked up the 6 auctions - but he had some great cans on ebay and I was glad to get six of them.
3 are new cans to me - 3 were upgrades
The Colt from Detroit is another unlisted ziptop can for the collection. Not previously seen a Detroit example without the silver outline on the Colt 45 - interesting it just has "1 PINT" for the contents. None of my Miami or Baltimore zips with no silver outline have that simple contents statement.
The Strohs Block letter fan tab upgrade - will also upgrade the website can. I think it is my shelfer on the site now - so that's available.
The Strohs tab in the middle was just an upgrade - I think to a can I had from when I was a kid.
The red HALF QUART he said was a test can - another not on the website - pretty cool.
I finally go the 2nd variation of the Old Milwaukee TAP TOP, in 2nd picture I show the seam variation. A little yellow but happy to have.
The final Old Milwaukee Zip is another sleeper - My grade 2 version of this was the website can and this one never had a bottom on it - but super clean!
I have had to cancel my plans for St Louis - and if I had found six cans for the collection there I would have felt a good show - so maybe this was my "gift" from above for having to cancel!

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
October was a good month for the collection. I need to hit the pause button for awhile methinks. Here are two of six recent acquisitions. Will post others in upcoming weeks.
The Berghoff Stout has been on my radar for 19 years. I know I posted it in another thread, but it's perhaps my biggest White Whale ever. Never say never! (This one's for you Fred Johnson)
The Michel wasn't on my radar at all, but John C had it at the IBC Show last weekend, and it looked really good in person, and it seemed a real shame to walk off without taking it home. I got that queasy feeling when I put it back into the tote - a sure indication for potential regret - so I picked it up again for good.

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
got this 16oz PBR today - from Milwaukee
Saw this can added on the USBC site - not in printed volume - never seen it before that photo. This was on ebay and it's the actual can on the site photos which I did not think it was when I bought it.
Hard to believe a misprint as the blue is same everywhere else - but glad to add to the collection!

Re: New Acquisition Wednesday
I was given this by one of my regular beer can trading partners. He knows that I love regional and national brand cans and thought this would a nice addition to my collection.
It's approximately 39 inches wide by 10 inches high. It does not light up.
Unfortunately I don't have anywhere to hang it so if anyone is interested in it, contact me.

Love the POC zip, I just grabbed one off Marketplace listed as "misc. items", the group of "Misc. items" wasn't anything special except for the POC zip and was worth buying at the asking price just for that can, I think because of the way it was listed beer can collectors most likely didn't see the ad, about a 35 minute drive one way but worth the trip, also snagged a very nice foil tab Green River yesterday.OhioCanGuy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 3:47 pm A mish mash of cans I've picked up over the last 30-40 days or so.
