Love the old school beers, scored Heileman Special Export and Old Style Saturday in Nebraska. Special Ex is hard to find...

Re: What are YOU Drinking Tonight?
You need a trading partner in Chicago. Old Style and Special Export are still available there, and at a reasonable price.

Re: What are YOU Drinking Tonight?
Fresh new canned beers from Georgia! The Bantam Weight and Funke Weiss are labels on generic cans. The Grumpy Old Men Aska Ale is a can wrap. It is getting hard NOT to collect micro cans as so many interesting local ones keep coming out.

Re: What are YOU Drinking Tonight?
What is old is new.....a customer brought me in this 1/2 gallon of Walters Beer from Pueblo. A brew pub that has resurrected the name and beer from the past. This particular brew is their original recipe pilsener. I've tasted better and worse, for sure. It is, however, a blast to drink the beer so many steel workers in Pueblo drank for decades. The jug is ACL and will go into the collection when emptied.

Just tried this last night
Kinda hard to describe the taste since it is unlike most Belgian anything I've had before. Here's what Real Ale say about it:
Featuring a beautiful pale-golden color, this ale’s spicy hops and Belgian yeast work together to create a distinctive flavor and aroma. Don’t let the light color fool you, this one has a dark side too. Traditional Belgian brewing techniques add strength without increasing heaviness.

Re: What are YOU Drinking Tonight?
Just when you thought it was over.. this thread continues.
Tonight we have three new brews from here in Georgia, with two of them coming from Athens, GA.
Cosmik Debris is a double IPA from creature Comforts brewing Co. in Athens. This brewery offers their products in kegs, growlers, and cans. No bottles. Another of their beers (Tropicalia) has been deemed "best craft beer" in Georgia by several experts/reviews. Cosmik Debris has been offered for over a year but was only recently released in cans. It is a wrap can. Great tasting. It is the Bomb! Due to limited supply both brands frequently sell out within hours of reaching select beer stores here in Georgia. There is another CCBC beer recently released in cans called "Athena Paradiso" that I have yet to find.
Sound Czech Pilsner by Terrapin Beer Co. of Athens is a lighter beer than most Terrapin offerings. Terrapin is known for their hoppy'ness as with "Hopsecutioner". It is a smoother lighter brew that is similar to their Golden Ale offered only here in Georgia. The can has great graphics of a terrapin on a concert stage. Terrapin has quite a few cans and they all have the great Terrapin graphics.
Monday Night Brewing started as a Monday night activity where several white collar executives got together and brewed small batches of beer. Eventually, they started a brewery ad have been quite successful in the last few years. Their logo of the guy in a tie & suit reaching out is well known now and many of their displays have cut off or mangled neck ties. Their slogan is: "Weekends are overrated." After several years of just bottling, "Slap Fight" IPA is their first offering in a can. The can is cool looking and it is very hoppy tasting.
Cheers!
Ken
PS: In the background are cardboard cartons for Atlantic Ale cone tops, Atlantic Ale punch tops, and Atlantic Beer plantation punch top cans.

I think he doesn't collect Japanese ones because there are way too many?
Anybody knows why they produced so many upside down cans anyway?

Re: What are YOU Drinking Tonight?
Most 80s Japanese beer and soda cans were produced upside down on purpose.
I'm told that they stored them upside down to keep them from foaming when they were opened so it was natural to have the print upside down so you could read them.
I only collect errored upside down ones so I don't have these.

I was running low on freshly bought beers, so went to the back of the fridge for
Utica Club Pilsener Lager Beer, which I bought back in May at Whole Foods in Portland (which one?) Haven't seen UC in almost 30 years.
Now, as I write this, I am enjoying the mellow taste of a Ballantine Burton Ale at 11.3% a/v from their 2015 bottling. It is awesome. Planning to save them for the next 10 years as they only get better.
While previewing, I noticed that my right side up picture was turned 90 degrees left...?
