Dumps on Google Earth?
I have done some scouting on Google Earth of some local places I'd like to check out, mostly trying to figure the most likely spot to find cans on a piece of private property to reduce some legwork in the field. This has me wondering, has nybody ever spotted a dump on Google Earth? Or checked to see if a known dump is visible on there? I think it would be cool if those who knoow the location of some of the famous dumps we've read about checked to see if they are visible, and we amassed an archive of coords to look up and see dumps, maybe add a screen shot with the posting of the coords? I know the Grand Coulee Dump has to be visible, I'll look it up and get it started, with hopes of others following suit.

Re: Dumps on Google Earth?
Only big desert dumps would show up, IMO. I've been able to see at least one vey big dump via Google (couple miles south of Toole, UT), but I don't think a positive ID would have been possible if I hadn't been on the ground first.

Re: Dumps on Google Earth?
I use Google Earth a lot for planning dump trips and locations that look promising. I reccommend the 5.0 version that still has the cameras on the roads instead of the newer dumb stickman thing on 6.0 and 7.0. I can see the big bar dump in Nipton California with google earth very well since it's in the Mojave desert.
