Kidney Cancer
Hey fellas, no other way of saying it, but I have kidney cancer. I have a bad kidney that must come out. All signs, so far, are positive that it hasn't spread. I've never smoked in my life, I'm in great shape and all my labwork is excellent. Best case scenario is the kidney comes out on monday at the Cleveland Clinic and I'm back in the saddle in 6-8 weeks. I'm not someone looking for pity or sympathy...I just wanted to let my good friends here know what's going on. I have many valued friends and contacts here and know many of you personally...you know who you are. Keep me in your thoughts and raise a glass to me when you get a chance. Currently, I feel great and have a great support system around me and ready to take on this challenge. I'll do my best to keep you updated periodically.
Currently in a collecting funk. Waiting for the bug to bite again to get back into collecting some type of cans, on a small, affordable level.

Re: Kidney Cancer
You are a great person with a great disposition, and that goes an immensely long way considering recovery. I will do more than raise a glass, I'll say a prayer or 12 and send all my positivity your way.
Look forward to seeing your scar and having some IPA at Blue Gray with you.

Re: Kidney Cancer
Bottom line: blood in the urine. It started in early May, but cleared up quickly. Thought it was simply a stone or infection. Got real bad monday evening and got a CT scan on tuesday morning and discovered a tumor or mass on my right kidney. Further testing today confirmed cancer. Guys, don't mess around with problems like this. GET THIS STUFF CHECKED OUT PRONTO. Hopefully, this will be 100% treatable.

Re: Kidney Cancer
It is beatable Bryan. Rustamust Mike Murphy went through the same thing a year ago. Had his kidney removed and was out digging 3 months later, albeit with some pain. And he was 74 at the time. You have many good years ahead of you. Thoughts and prayers are with you!
