Looks like the ACC can went for $3600 + fees, so the gurus here were pretty close.

The current numbers reflect the 17% buyer's premium, and will be updated to show 14% for buyers who pay by Zelle. The Canco can will be less than $3,600 even with shipping and insurance, so it was one of very few really good cans at a tolerable price.
The three cans I wanted, and that didn't far exceed my price levels before the live bidding began, came in at 50%, 100% and 30% above my estimates. I took nine more off my watch list this morning because of price.

I kept the can for several years and then sold it for several thousand around 2008. At the time funds were tight and it didn't really fit into my collecting niche. I did splurge on a can that I really wanted paying more than I'm accustomed to so still have something to show for my luck. In hindsight it would have been nice if I hung onto it, but I needed the money more at the time. I have no plans to purchase another.
Unfortunately I can't find pics of it but probably posted some on this site back around 2005. The top lid was of much thinner gauge metal and had several rings closer to the middle so did not look like the lid you posted. There's no question that it was original.

Thanks, Scott. I've heard that a few have turned up with top lids, but I'm not sure if I've seen one and nobody's ever mentioned unusual lids. Jim Plant got two in his salesman's can find years ago, and at least one of them had a foil label rather than inked. Glad to hear you parlayed a portion of the proceeds into something you still have.Scott wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 12:28 pmMarc;mtracy64 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:17 amCongratulations; that would be the highlight of a career for most of us! I posted this link earlier in this thread. BeerCansPlus auction result. They don't mention if they think the can is all original. But from the pics... maybe a can that held beer?

Obviously can't say for sure, but it would be mighty disappointing if a collector punched the bottom if it was originally air-sealed or lidless.OhioCanGuy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:04 pm I posted this link earlier in this thread. Maybe the sales guy was showing a potential client how they opened up? From the bottom and at the seam seems like a lot to ask from a sales guy . . .jacoby4664 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 6:40 pmMaybe the sales guy was showing a potential client how they opened up? @OhioCanGuy and @mtracy64 Much like the salesman's sample cans being filled here, I wouldn't have doubt that some of the original salesman sample cans were filled as well.....I thought I saw the footage somewhere of that but can't seem to find it at the moment...

Here's another great one with the line where the lids actually get added.....tones of great videos on this website and various results with differing queries....

Two partially full cans have been mentioned above, so some were definitely filled. Most were found with the rolled lip, but air-sealed cans have turned up too.keithker wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 7:20 pm @OhioCanGuy and @mtracy64 Much like the salesman's sample cans being filled here, I wouldn't have doubt that some of the original salesman sample cans were filled as well.....I thought I saw the footage somewhere of that but can't seem to find it at the moment...

A unique and very interesting find. We'll never know how that came to be - accidentally filled and made it past quality control, intentionally filled as-is or with a paper label?Cap-Sealed wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 11:13 am The late RBer Mark Bryant from Utah dug an American Can Co can with Hop Golds, & flat bottom Burger cones in Oregon.
