Re: RIP John Madden and those incredible Miller Lite commercials

Summerall-Madden was perhaps the best duo in sports history. Gary Thorne & Bill Clement also might be in the running.

Re: An era is about to end. RIP Dixie Brewery

That said, I don't think it is historically inaccurate for people to connect the term with the CSA. “Connecting” isn’t really the issue. I can directly “connect” the USA to the institution of slavery with 100% historical accuracy - Should we change the name, the flag, the capitol or even leave for ...

Re: Need 1971 8 OZ Schlitz Malt Liquor

Fantastic! Thanks so much. Yeah, just that year for the 8, 12 & 16. They never did it for the 24 oz bull as far I I know. Sending you a PM shortly. I’ve been searching and I found one, finally getting cans out of the attic and on some shelves in the new mancave. The 8oz’er is air-sealed and minty! I...

Re: What Is The Rarest Can In Your Collection?

Fun thread to look at. I’ve not thought about it much, but it might be this one. This was a mythical can to me for years as a collector. Didn’t think it actually existed. Not very sexy, as it’s a supermarket can and not exactly beautiful, but I’ve only ever seen ONE other in person, and a couple in ...

Re: Slowly Losing It...

An inexpensive (but cool) niche collection can be fun. With display space filling up fast, and with the values of cans I want skyrocketing, I’ve been going for all the 70’s steel Schlitz Malt Liquor blue bull cans. USBC lists about 50, and I’ve got a few unlisted ones, plus some bank tops and drinki...

Re: HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR USER NAME?

Two parts to this. Oddly enough, living in the south, the first cone top I ever collected was a Black Horse Ale I traded for. Still have it! And when I was a kid, I had a black Matchbox ‘67 Mustang which I loved...and that was the beginning of me becoming a Mustang freak. I’ve bought 4 new cars in m...

“Easy” Cans Which Prove Elusive

I recently won a Tudor Pilsner Beer (Norfolk) tab-top can on the bay. Seller only had 2 pics up, but it was in very nice shape, so I bid for a minor upgrade. Won it for $5 as the only bidder. It arrives, I open the package and I’m greeted with this nice little surprise... 6502515D-8972-45F2-9E12-68B...

Damn fine print. Thanks Conehead - I should’ve seen that in the supplement text. Gonna be a tough get. The USBC shows that #165-1 is IRTP while #165-2 is not. #165-1 is really tough. Here's a previous thread on the subject. http://www.therustybunch.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42248&p=363232&hilit...

Difference Between The 2 Glasgo Cones?

Impossible to see any difference in the book, and the supplement has the 5 views for only one of them.

I’ve got one and have no clue what to look for in getting it’s brother. Anyone know?

Thanks!

Steel Christmas-Themed Cans?

Putting together a display of Christmas-themed steel cans (hat tip to Rand for his can tree below!) and wondering what I’m missing. Steel cans only, that fit the theme, even if not intentionally. Domestic or international. What else? Iron City cans, 3 different “Good friends, good cheer” Holiday XMas...

Re: Ballantine "Bumper" Quart Cone Top

In modern street parlance, a “bumper” is a 40-ozer and usually a bottle. Generally, it’s a big azz container of beer.
I’d guess most people think it’s a 70’s term. Cool that it goes back much further.

Re: Morean Auction 6/6/20

I’ve wondered if that was happening. Or if there are shills in the mix. As for pure investing, what happens to prices in 15-20 years when so many of us will have passed away and there are so few younger collectors to drive demand? Will can prices plummet? There has to be a few non collectors investm...
