Re: Anybody ever go dumping around Lynch Kentucky??
I was thereabouts around 12 months ago. Didn't find a bonanza, but enough to keep things interesting. I found the can below scatter-dumping with the detector:

Some other Alabama digging
While Paul Letostak and his group were digging last weekend, I was off on a little solo excursion in the same neighborhood. My first stop was Pine Mountain, Georgia area. Early on I found a pile of flat tops, but it turned out to be a few cases of Bud split labels and one Nehi. The area was a CCC ho...

Re: Pre-Dumping Analysis
Just like you guys, my last couple of trips have been over the SC line. Found a great big bar dump on one excursion last year, apparently virgin but chock full of national brands. Bud, Bud, Bud, Schlitz, Miller, Bud. The big piles are fun to look at, though. I was hoping for a few odd-sized cans, an...

Re: Abandoned houses, hotel in Great Smoky Mountain Natl. Pa
I was at this "discovery" in June. It is along a trail not far from a parking lot, within a mile of a major campground, and is visited by thousands of people annually. The article is intentionally misleading -- the hiker "discovered" it only for himself.
The place is cool, though.

Great stuff.
My first guess on the quart would be Konig Brau, a couple of which I found in Wyoming once upon a time.

Help needed from Minnesota dumpers
My brother Tom and I will be traveling to the Brainerd MN area later this month for the Hoefer family reunion. In between obligations, we'd like to find some Minnesota Rust! Neither of us has dug Minnesota before, so the usual local brands would be exotic for us. We both collect all flats and cones....

I find that this is less of a problem with oxalic than with citric. I've filled cans when using citric, but I never bother when using oxalic.

Re: Dumps on Google Earth?
Only big desert dumps would show up, IMO. I've been able to see at least one vey big dump via Google (couple miles south of Toole, UT), but I don't think a positive ID would have been possible if I hadn't been on the ground first.

Dave -- just ribbing with the 'big splash' remark. Apparently jealousy brings out the smartass in me. It's such an ugly emotion.
Anyway, keep these inspiring photos coming! You should have another big pyramid after all the trades about to come your way.
