Whose stupid idea was it to do this anyway..... Until near the end of Sunday's games I had tied myself for 31st place! I'm reduced to trash talking myself. Romine won't even take my calls anymore....

Re: We Know It Was Produced But None Are Known to Exist
Does anyone know the MN collector who saw invoices for Robin Hood beer? I think it had to be Metz not Storz as they seem to have continued with the brand after 1937. BTW it probably was beer not Ale- Fontenelle and then Metz both seem to have just made beer.

That thing is awesome! looks like it was just Mathias Frahm from 1850 to 1884 and then M Frahm and son from 1884 to 1894 when they became part of the Davenport Malting Co group. Andy

Re: Paper Label Crowntainers- Our story so far
I confess I just threw the Bock label up as I had nothing at all on the Schlitz Bock can. Very curious to see how close they are other than the Bock font and that mine has a date and the can does not.... Does a Schlitz specialist know if that means it really is a mock up and not regular production c...

Re: Paper Label Crowntainers- Our story so far
Dan has had 7 paper label Gluek's over the years. Ranged between 175 and 3300 or so. So no pattern that I could see really. 5 werre Legend 2 plain at top; 1 Legend 5 6%; and one was Legend 4 Contains More Than 3/2% of Alcohol by Weight. The underlying cans look like 3 on plains striped cans From Glu...

If you are so inclined only 2.5 hours left to make a bracket. Still 12 from last year that haven't..... Not that I would ever point out that C.E., or J.P. or T.C. and other regulars on here are MIA...... That's not CexyedUp at all (Sorry Rawley I know I slaughtered that).....

Paper Label Crowntainers- Our story so far
Bill's ad post looking for crowntainers got me wondering exactly who all used the striped blank crowntainer- which quickly evolved into how many different paper label crowntainers are there really? Images from cans are stolen from various RB threads or Crowntainer Central (named all theirs with thei...

Your system seems as sound as mine- Overestimate my favorites and emotional attachments, and underestimate the teams I don't like. Re: 2024 March Madness RB brackets
Here are some prize cans to pick from for the top three finishers. In the event of a tie I'll think of something horrible and grossly unfair to all. The Rheingold is airfilled and clean but has a nasty scratch on the back. Gunther's is very nice but lidless. Yukon is clean. Country Club malt lager a...

Posted a link to the RB tournament challenge in the sports section but figured I better say something here as we only have 2 days to fill them out. My folks went to a yardsale in Phoenix that had a bunch of cans from the 80s in a crate. Guy having the sale let them have the Apache wooden case for $5. Cans were $1 except his active ashtray can because it was a flat top...... perfect....8oz Sir Lady Frothingslosh.....

Herman Bartel's on the run...
Incredibly crazy story about Herman Bartel's, brewer of Syracuse, NY from 1905-1907 https://www.syracuse.com/living/2022/05/the-downfall-of-syracuse-brewer-herman-bartels-in-1905.html So did this brewery exist from 1893 to 1920 then 1933 to 1942? Wonder how it survived Hermans activity. I won the Pr...

Sorry to hear it was a problem can but sure seems solid that way. Have you ever seen anything other than a Jordan or Gluek on the plain striped crowntainer? Weird it was just two Minnesota breweries using them.

These are borrowed from auctions I won- the St Cloud is rough but a variation - so these are recent pick ups of 3 of the last 4 MN breweries I was after. St Cloud uperm rough.jpg Had to go to town and left a useless bid on a way tougher Jordan that shows the brewery but glad to get this one just the...

And then there was 1- nearing completion of a label specialty
So a couple years ago I decided to try and get 1 label at least from every brewery in MN and WI that actually produced. Minnesota has 37 post pro breweries listed but, as near as I can tell only 26 actually went into production. After a recent TT auction got down to just 3 missing breweries, and one...

I'm with Steve on this- The bane of specialization is when you get too close to completion and the degree of difficulty to add anything goes up and up. I'm sure this has happened too many of the really high end collections. Ron Dick would have people jack their prices just because he was the one int...

The Turner Hall in New Ulm is another great place and has some Killer breweriana. I'd agree it seems strangely low for what that can is too. Only 4 items over 10k and one a sign. In a lot of the cans under 5k I thought of things seemed rather reasonable... maybe that's just after the years of shock and awe. Heck, I even won something today (Robin Hood sign).... Andy

Earliest bottled beer ?
Stumbled into the massive British online archives and think I might have a topic for an interesting BCCA, ABA or NABA article. Have found a number of documents talking about shipments of bottled beer to the US and some island colonies, prior to 1710. My understanding is that bottling was not widespr...
