IRTP Beer Bottle with soda cap!!!

#1

Post by Pbama » Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:55 pm

Need some help here. The below ‘full’ Edelbrau Pilsener Beer, Brooklyn NY, IRTP 7 oz bottle has below provenance rec’d from seller of the collection that I recently acquired: pulled from the basement of “Doyle’s Cafe’ in JP when I was a kid, just closed one of the oldest pubs in city , across at from the old Haffenreffer brewery which is now Sam Adams ”. Here’s the mystery, the cap is from RC Cola!!! The contents as you can see in pictures is old beer as you can see the yeast floating around and see some bubbles, etc. Is anybody familiar with this brewery’s history and why would they have an RC Cola cap on this bottle. Based on the contents, I would find it very hard to believe that this cap was put on outside of the brewery. Thx!

that is not a RC cap from before 1951. They were red and yellow, later they had a red diamond in the center. That cap is 1960s at the earliest.

I think someone was just being funny.. if you google RC bottlecaps you can see all the variations... nice bottle though...
If you have Schmidt scenic cans: white back, 12oz drafts, and most gold ones in either flat or zip I'd love to talk. Also interested in irtp and older Gluek labels.

Some was using the bottle for some bootleg hootch, could be beer, could be wine. Great looking bottle though.

I would think that is somebody's home-brew/basement-brew, and they just reused the RC cap... I was thinking the cap was 60's/70's myself...
Cool bottle though...
Hoping to run across an off grade example of Lubeck Royal Beer Flat Top Can. Lubeck Brewing Co, Toledo, Ohio.

That cap is 1970s, we saved a couple for our crown collection circa 1975/6.
I'm constantly finding good cans... in my mailbox. *** My third year of waging Schlitzkrieg on the Flint Hills of Kansas ***
