Recent East Coast Dump Find.

#1

Post by Leon » Sat Nov 09, 2019 8:20 pm

This Story starts out about 4 weeks ago when I was notified by a Friend of mine that he found some Beer Cans along a old Stone Wall. He's not a Beer Can Collector so asked me for my Advise & Professional Opinion on what he should do with these rusty discarded Beer Cans. I said if they are Rusty or Dented that's OK with me since I can fix them so he sent me some Pics. I could see the one Quart was a Cremo Quart which I knew was a rare one. SO, I've been working closely with him ever since to try to rescue some of these rusty relics. I can't give to many other details because there are numerous Vultures trying to intercept on this dump & find out where it is so they can dig it out with out me. They should stop. Some Pics below.. LEON.

P.S. As usual, double click on all my pics to supersize.

Got a big pile of Beverwyck Cones. 2 Different Variations. Although very very common, the condition was the best of all the cans in the dump so I said send them along. LEON.

oops, I meant 3 different variations.

As for the other Mystery Quart next to the Cremo Quart, After extensive long soaking it still remains a Mystery. There was a little bit of bright red on both sides at bottom & only thing I could think of was a Red Fox Quart Cone. Which would of been a good can. BUT, The one side kinda showed some lines making me think maybe it's a 2 faced cans & Red Fox only 1 faced. It never revealed enough to figure it out since the prolonged soaking eliminated all the red & any other color & the lines disappeared making it unidentifiable. LEON.

Looking at that Quart Cone pic above, can anybody make out what that Mystery Quart is? I think that's the left side in Pic. Could that be a Red Fox or something else? Also my buddy is still finding more cans so I got some more surprises to follow, stay tuned. LEON.

P.S. Double click pic above to super size.

The Hanley's crowntainer pictured as found, and cleaned, in this stream is the very difficult Hanley's Extra Pale Lager Beer variation. As opposed to the far more common Hanley's Extra Dry Lager Beer variation. FYI

Yes, I'm aware of that, that's why I told him to send it to me. I'm really surprised nobody asked me if the Cremo Crowntainers were 1 face or 2 face or 1 sided or 2 sided. LEON.

ahhh maybe not so true on Johnny P or Strohs, maybe like piles of Goebel OI's .. a very popular brand once you get past Syracuse and keep heading East or into ADK.. I always like a nice dig of the Shamrock cones, and only once got into a pile of USA's , or maybe it was MikeS who went back to this massive BEV IRTP flats, UC IRTP flats dump near Speculator.

Leon -sell some of you bottles and buy a plane ticket.....A dump like this only comes along once every 10 or 20 years. Enjoy it! Or send Bill out there and he'll dig them for you! He would go....

Looks like Winter hit early here in Michigan with a big snow Blizzard past 2 days. That Snow is gotta be heading out to the East Coast now. Digging might be over for us until Spring in April? LEON.

You can tell whether the Cremo crowntainers are one faced or two faced by looking at just the front label. The attached pic shows them side by side. The design is different. Look either side of the S above the word Cremo. One faced can is on the left.

:smt023 Hmm, very Interesting. I was wondering if there'd be a easy way to tell. I think some people called that stuff your talking about Filigree, at least they do with the Altes & other cans with similiar designs. I notice the one face cans filigree is different not only at top but sides & bottom also. Can you post a pic of both left & right sides on both cans for comparision. THANKS, LEON. :smt023
