Dollar dumper and a couple more from Spring Thaw

#1

Post by eric » Mon Apr 08, 2019 9:54 pm

I picked up my usual 4-5 cases of upgrades and new cans at Spring Thaw. I saw a lot of tough dumper cans in the $40-$60 range this year, which is a little more than I want to pay at this stage, but I'm sure the buyers of those cans went home happy.

Normally I don't even look at what I picked up until a few weeks after the show. I like to re-live the thrill of new cans after the thrill of the show has faded. But rather than keep the non-attendees in suspense, I thought I'd post a picture of the crappy $1 dumper that everyone at the show wanted to see, plus a couple new Michigan cans for the shelf at somewhat more than $1 but still very reasonable prices.

Sorry to get your hopes up, Pete. It is just the ordinary old Rheingold Pale Bock without the goats. It does look OD-ish on the front and when I first saw it I thought it was a regular Rheingold OD.

Congratulations on the Michigan version of the Frankenmuth Bock. That is a tough can to get. I bought a dumper of it once. At the time, I questioned if it was worth the $5 I paid for it. Fast forward several years and I have not found another opportunity to upgrade so I now realize it was $5 well spent.
Focus: Cones and flats from Michigan, South Bend, and Fort Wayne. Foreign cans only if I bought them myself in the country of origin.

2019 Shows Attended

For all the totes and boxes you go through looking for cans it's just right that you found the pale bock for a $1! Congrats. Very cool can. I'd be glad to take it off your hands for $40-60
Thanks. Dave
