"no artificial gas" Meister Brau

#1

Post by Kotto » Sun Apr 07, 2019 11:19 pm

Lilek R-9, and reportedly not that many known. It's been a few years since the OI book was published, and many more collections have been scoured since then. I know that a lot of cans have been proven not to be quite as rare as once thought, as the collecting community becomes more and more informed. So, what's the current consensus on this Meister Brau? I love that it's old enough to be "Patents Pending"!

John,
I know that we have had a few pass through our hands over the years. I don't think that it is as rare as once thought, but in no way is it common or easy to find one. We turn many at shows looking. Great can!

Back in the late 90's, Harker and I dug a half dozen or so, but they were really bad.

John,

It's about a $800.00-$1000.00 Tom is right, we have had at least three or four, Ekstrom and I also had a few. Tough can, but I would not consider it rare by any means. I bought one on eBay for $250.00 that is A1+. Nice pick up Johnny K.

Thanks all for the comments and advice. I picked it up last weekend at the Belleville IL show. I chuckle at the fact that I had no idea it was the tougher version until the next day. Those who know me and how dreadfully unobservant I can be will not be at all surprised. I thought that I was upgrading the more common "Patents Pending" Meister Brau OI.

I'm thinking now that I will trade or sell it to a Chicago specialist or OI specialist in exchange for an entirely new brand label that I need, of which there are many. Spread the word and let me know of any interest.

Concur....in that condition, it's a tough can. Also agree with your assessment to trade it for a label you need. My experience over the years is that the back panel "no artificial gas" variation doesn't really command the big bucks in the general market...the face is no different than a more pedestrian variation..... mainly like you said the OI or Chicago guys would want it. So the market is pretty small.....but passionate.
